THE Night Owl sees me stalking up through the mountain passes of La Paz for what should be an intense first-leg play-off in Bolivia.
I’ve written much about The Strongest’s altitude advantage high up in The Andes but a combination of their own downturn in form and an upsurge in a handful of other teams' quality has seen their dominance falter of late.
One such side is Wilstermann who in the last 12 months have really set their stall out for the big boys and have been brilliant to back.
While the hosts will look to gain the obvious advantage it’s hard to ignore the fact they have failed to keep a clean sheet in 21 attempts out of their last 34 at home.
Doesn’t seem much on paper but this is a big sea change by Bolivian’s self-imposed biggest hitters.
Many of those teams who have struck a goal in La Paz can’t hold a candle to Wilstermann’s squad and Jorge have proved it in the last 18 months by scoring in each of the last 4 H2Hs – two of which were on The Strongest’s home patch.
The Strongest v Wilstermann (1am)
- Wilstermann to score before 49mins (5-6)
- Wilstermann over 1.5 team goals (5-4)
Wilstermann missed penalty on 21 minutes…gutted ?
