ICELANDIC sports have been back under Government lockdown for a few weeks but are now underway and that's where I'm heading for the main bets with a cheeky betbuilder on City's game thrown in for good measure!

VALUR VS. KA (5.00pm)

Valur are red hot favourites here and, whilst they ought to win, I'm not so sure it will be one-way traffic and think the bookies don't quite have it right – KA have been as much a bogey side to the Urvalsdeild giants as anyone else in recent times!

Of the last 6 meetings – all within a 3 year period – the honours are even with KA winning 2, losing 2 and drawing 2…throw into the mix that Valur have arguably been the strongest side in the top-flight during this period of time and that's some effort from the Akureyri based outfit.

The handicap market could then hold some value and if you would have applied a +1 h/cap to those most recent H2H's, KA would have returned the compliments 4 times out of 6 in the form of a big green tick…this pays a tasty looking 7/4 tonight with a safer +2 paying a still reasonable 4/6!

Whilst I like the look of the above, there is always that inherent risk that comes with h/cap betting so I'm relegating it to the NB…instead I'm taking on my old favourite Valur betting market of corners for the NAP.

I won't trot out the stats for corners and in actual fact, they haven't been as prolific in recent games with only a handful of wild 15+ counts but with the line set at over 10, that's good enough for me given 12 of their most recent games saw a minimum of 11 corners!

Add in the potential for a fairly even and open game which may not have the predicted goals that the bookies expect and there could well be value to be had looking away from what are the more common markets!

Recommended Bets

  • OVER 10.5 CORNERS
    (11/10, bet365) NAP ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • KA +1 H/CAP
    (7/4, bet365) NB ⭐⭐
  • KA +2 H/CAP
  • OVER 10.5 CORNERS
    (5/2, bet365) LONGSHOT I ⭐

MAN CITY VS. LYON (8.00pm)

Probably not going to emulate last night's sporting spectacle but it ought to be a great encounter with plenty of action.

I've put this one together for a more speculative punt!

I allways check the asian handicap +0.5 before I bet on (european) handicap +1 and most of the time it’s better odds on the asian. In this case you can get 2.85 on KA +0.5 asian instead of 2.75 on the european handicap +1
Does anybody know why you usually get better odds on the asian handicap?

Keep up the good work Hull!

    Better with the Betbuilder!

7/1 balances out the earlier loss 😀
