New Hull City manager Tim Walter was sacked after the club's abysmal 2-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday. Now, the market has opened up on who is to be his replacement.
Walter's reign at the MKM Stadium did not last very long, having arrived as a replacement for outgoing boss Liam Rosenior. The German had promised to play heart-in-mouth attacking football, but his side only managed to score 16 times in 17 outings, which represents a torrid record.
With the club now sat in 22nd place and inside the relegation zone, the Hull hierarchy felt they had no choice but to act, and a host of managers have been linked to the MKM Stadium hotseat.

One surprise name that has emerged as a contender for the role is former Manchester United legend Nicky Butt, who is priced at an outside chance of 33/1 to assume the position.
The midfielder made over 300 appearances for the Red Devils, and has never had a taste of professional management since retiring in 2011. And so, while he could be an interesting left-field choice for punters if his price shortens in the coming days, there are still a significant number of managerial candidates with much more solid credentials.
Current favourites
Mark Robins – 3/1
The current standout favourite is former Coventry City boss Mark Robins. Robins was at the helm of the Sky Blues for over seven years, and almost guided Coventry back to the Premier League, after they had sunk as low as League Two in 2017.
After a fallout between himself and owner Doug King, Robins departed Coventry earlier this campaign, with the club sat towards the back end of the Championship table and teetering just above the drop zone.
Having been touted for a number of roles, it now seems most likely that Robins will take on the role at the MKM Stadium. Having amassed 387 managerial appearances with Coventry, it is safe to say he brings a wealth of experience to the table.
At 3/1, punters ought to put their money behind Robins before it is too late.
Steven Schumacher – 4/1
Former Stoke City and Plymouth Argyle gaffer Steven Schumacher stands as the current favourite to take over the Tigers.
The Englishman was given little time at his most recent club Stoke, only being permitted to manage 32 games before being given his marching orders by sporting director Jonathan Walters.
However, Schumacher could also prove to be an astute acquisition, as he guided Plymouth to the League One title on a shoe-string budget, amassing over 100 points in 2022/23.
At 4/1, he is certainly still in the race, and could be a shrewd pick behind Robins to steady the ship at Hull.
Ismail Kartal – 12/1
Ismail Kartal has been given an outside chance at the role, and is priced at 12/1. The Turkish manager has a managerial career spanning over 24 years, all of which has been in Turkey, and he was most recently the boss at giants Fenerbahce.
Despite finishing on 99 points last season, Fenerbahce lost out to rivals Galatasaray by three points, and Kartal decided to depart the club.
Kartal's links to Hull owner Acun Ilicali have put him in the running for the role, but it may be difficult to tempt him away from his native Turkey, as he has never left the country for any managerial stint.
Thus, he is likely a poor choice for punters at 12/1.
