It baffles me how I've walked away from Tuesday with just one winner and no profit on the day.
Classic Encounter got us a win at Redcar, proving that he is dangerous at Class 4 races.
Giles Glory didn't cover himself in glory and put in a pretty confusing performance.
Someone who definitely didn't cover himself in glory was Kieran Shoemark. I really like him, but he will watch that back on Frantic and think he's given the horse the worst possible ride. The horse was the best in the race, and he had anchored her in last place, and away from the leaders, who were miles clear. The horse did her best to chase them down, but when she was given mission impossible, and had to settle for second.
Watchdog 3/1 (1pt) – Hamilton 3.05
I didn't think this race was that stacked, so Watchdog could definitely make the step up to Class 4.
Sprinters often find it an easier assignment bridging the gap between grades than other sectors of horse racing, so I don't have an issue with Watchdog. He is an in-form horse who has already won four times in his short career to date.
There are negatives with the rest of the others in this race, so I do expect him to be the favourite by the time the race is off. The only one I could see rival him is Sierra Sands, as he is from Ed Dunlop's stable, who is travelling a long way, and the yard is in good form.
I think Watchdog will make all, as he has done for the majority of his wins. He'll come under pressure, but will see them off one at a time.
Tiva 3/1 (1pt) – Hamilton 4.05
Top weight is going to make this quite a tough task, especially against a couple of in-form horses. If Tiva can bounce back to form after her return to racing 32 days ago, she can definitely win this.
She was a progressive sprinter last year, and only didn't run to form when she was running in much better graded races, on slower ground, or not getting a clear run. Today, she is in a class 4, has her ground and has a small field to contest with.
I think this race could be run to suit. Law Of Average likes to run from the front, and because Tiva is strong at the finish, I can picture her running her opposition down late on, taking full advantage of the stiff finish.
