Yesterday’s Nap turned out to be a frustrating one. Badly hampered at the start, Mr Strutter was forced to take the widest route, and as he ran on well to finish a never-nearer second, I couldn’t help but think that we were hard done by as the winner got a far smoother trip, covering much less ground. That’s not my first hard luck story in this game, and it won’t be the last. Onwards and upwards.

Today, I’m all over the well-handicapped Asadjumeirah, who runs in the 15:25 at Carlisle.
Far from a regular winner, the six-year-old is on a long losing run, but he’s not been far away of late, hinting that his time may now be near.
Can Asadjumeirah be a big player at this level?
The mount of Cam Hardie is now a whopping 34 lbs below his last winning mark. I can remember seeing this horse come through to land a Class 3 prize at Thirsk a couple of years ago. He's clearly lost his way since then, but the gelding is only a six-year-old, so I can't help but think that's he's got a lowly Class 6 race in him.
Antony Brittain's runner comes into this contest following a decent staying-on effort over six furlongs at Catterick, doing so after a 76-day break from 2 lbs higher in the weights. Even the smallest step forward here would see him get seriously involved at the death.
Several of his recent speed ratings suggest that he’s a big player in a race of this nature, while he’s no stranger to running well on soft ground either.
If and when he does get the job done again, it will likely be in a race like this, one where there’s a predicted strong pace, leaving him to attack at the death.
Lurking at the bottom of the weights here, for my money, he ticks more than enough boxes to be considered a value play at early odds of 17/2.
