daily racing tips 3

Rizz had a few things come up last minute,  and as a result had little time to cover Tuesday's racing. Rizz will return tomorrow for Wednesday's card.

Rizz had just the one selection on offer for Monday and that came in the shape of Uncle Simon. The market throughout the day had Uncle Simon drift significantly in the market, with that said, the money came late on and he was backed into his originally advised odds of 5/2.

Unfortantely, Uncle Simon could only manage fourth place, in a race in which was dominated by the top four in the market. Uncle Simon broke okay from the stalls but the front runner Darn Hot Time went forward and made it a real test from the get go. The market leader Call Me Betty did enough to rail in the front runner to get up on the line by a head, with Uncle Simon unable to bridge the gap as they dashed for home.

It has been a fair while since I've posted on the thread. This entire flat season has been tough and I too had little joy at Royal Ascot. We saw plenty of favourites land throughout the five days, which was a surprise in my opinion as those big field handicaps are a minefield at the best of times. Well done if you managed to end the week in profit!

Cairnzy's Racing Tips

Miss Honey 3/1 – Newbury 6.45

I didn't have much joy during last years flat season, particularly when it came to backing the Gosden yard. I'm not one for constantly blaming jockeys for losing selections, but I did blame a few of those results on the type of ride that Kieran Shoemark gave my selections on those occassions. Of course, Kieran has since lost his job under the Gosdens in that time, with his run on Field Of Gold in the 2000 Guineas being the final nail in the coffin. Some argued it was harsh and some agreed it was the correct decision but he had a decent time during Royal Ascot, and has picked up a few rides for in the in-form Ed Walker yard since losing his job.

On paper, I have this as a three horse race between the three horses with experience. Miss Honey, Mystic Moment and Orion's Belt have all shown significant promise in their short racing career's but I was particularly sound on the Gosden trained Miss Honey, who won a couple of weeks ago on debut at Kempton.

Tipping in these types of races can be risky as we've very little form to go on besides one or two runs but I was rather impressed on how Miss Honey went about her business on debut. William Buick pitched her towards the rear of the field for the majority of the contest but she started to make some headway as they approached the 2f pole. Buick had to switch his mount when making his challenge into the straight and despite looking quite green, she picked up well inside the final furlong to pick up those in front. Although she only won by a short margin ( neck ) I thought Buick had plenty of horse left underneath him and a 5lb penalty shouldn't prevent another bold bid from the Goldophin runner who looks sure to progress for the recent experience.

Stardinia 11/4 – Newbury 6.15

Similar to my previous selection, I find myself tipping in a race where we are very much entering the unknown as most of this field are making their racing debuts.

With that said, my selection Stardinia is an exception to the above statement and has shown enough in two career starts to suggest she is capable of getting of the mark at the third attempt of asking for the powerful Amo Racing team.

My selection was sent off favourite on debut at Leicester in April and went down by a neck to the Clive Cox trained Coppull. The form of that particular run looks by far the best on offer, with Coppull recently out-running his massive odds of 66/1 in this years coventry, finishinig just over 3L back in third behind Aiden O'Brians Gstaad who looks like a really nice sort going forward.

Stardinia didn't exactly progress or show the same sort of form on her second outing last month at Ascot, however she didn't run a bad race either when finishing just under 4L behind the winner in what was a tightly bunched finish. Both of her runs have come over 5f and connections have opted to send her up in trip to 6f for her third outing, which I'm hoping will be the correct move and see her progress further.

Richard Hannon's Sinj doesn't have the same form credentials as Stardinia but is on the same boat as my selection in regards to stepping up in trip and has to be respected from a yard who does well with their youngsters.
