Ryan Moore showed that the cream always rises to the top on day two of the Glorious Goodwood Festival.
Ryan managed to land the first three race, one being a dead-heat. He gave Omni Man an absolute peach of a ride. Thankfully, the race unfolded as I had imagined, and Omni Man was produced late to capitalise on a solid pace. He drifted out to 8/1, so if you backed him, I hope you got the bigger price.
Down Memory Lane was going well in the Galway Plate, but was knackered and that resulted in a poor jump when Mark Walsh asked for a big one. After that, he was cooked and was the last-placed horse of those who finished the race. The winner was ridden by Danny Gilligan, and I didn't realise that. I thought it was strange Harry Cobden was onboard Jazzy Matty, and I didn't notice Danny Gilligan was on the eventual winner. God knows whether that would have been enough to sway my opinion on the way, but it is something I do like to look for.
Parole d'Oro 9/1 (1pt EW, 5pl) – Goodwood 1.20
The opening race is a very difficult puzzle to solve. I like both of the Wathnan horses, and found it difficult to split them. I was edging towards backing Ernst Blofeld, but ended up giving Parole d'Oro a chance under Ryan Moore.
Ryan Moore wasn't the deciding factor for backing this horse over my original fancies, but having him in the saddle is always a huge plus. I don't think being drawn in stall 1 is ideal, and it will make it a tough ride for Ryan. Given this is this horse's first attempt over this trip, I doubt he will be running from the front. Stall 1 means he will meet a lot of trouble in running, but we have Ryan doing the steering and he showcased his talent on our selection yesterday.
On breeding, Parole d'Oro is guaranteed to stay the trip. Both sides of the pedigree give the impression a mile is what he wants, but his running style suggests overwise. He was denied a clear run on numerous occasions at Royal Ascot, but still managed to finish 8th/30. Last time out he was running on at the finish in a Class 3 handicap at Newmarket, losing by a short-head. Based on those performances, trying him over today's trip is worth a shot.
Unfortunately, having the main man in the saddle will mean our fancy is a shorter price, but the booking shows they fancy their chances, as does Ryan.
Brosay 12/1 (1pt EW, 5pl) – Goodwood 3.45
I always say to stick with your gut, and unfortunately I didn't do that on Day 1 and that costed me from tipping up two winners. I am not going to make the same mistake again, and that's why Brosay is being stuck up.
Goodwood is expecting some heavy showers in the early afternoon, and based on how the track is already riding, it could send it soft or even worse. Brosay is a horse who has a course win, and that win came on heavy ground. I will be praying that the rain falls for this horse, as he is one of the only horses in the lineup that appears to handle the soft going. His form this year has been decent, but the last two runs were definitely below par.
Goodwood is a track which sees horses with previous form on the track, return and win.

That your retirement fund treble then mate 💰
That won’t even cover the losses over the years ! Could of bought a house outright with what I’ve spent 😂😂😂
I made it to the last leg of the placepot yesterday with everything riding on OUR CODY.
Midfield on far side of group, lost action and pulled up over 3f out (jockey said filly took a false step and lost her action, therefore he felt it prudent to ease out of the race; vet had nothing to report) (op 15/2 tchd 17/2)
Placepot: £964.60 to a £1 stake. :(
