Term Of Endearment was an unlucky loser for new connections.
Tom Marquand tried to make the running on William Haggas' new recruit, and it looked like the best thing to do with a couple of furlongs to travel, as she managed to fend off her nearest rivals, but she was headed in the final furlong and pipped on the line by the Ed Walker horse.
Grey Fable didn't stay the two-mile trip at Chester, but wasn't given the best of rides. The horse was trapped wide throughout, and then the jockey shot his load too soon, turning for home, which left nothing in the tank for the finish.
Vadinska 13/8 (2pt) – Chantilly 2.20
As far as debut performances go, you could not get more impressive than the Aga Khan debutante, Vadinska.
This horse managed to romp home by 10L on debut, but that level of performance didn't come out of nowhere as she was backed into 4/5F, which goes to show that she had been showing plenty at home at the F-H Graffard stables. That run produced an RPR of 103, which is super impressive for her first ever start, and you rarely see a horse producing those type of numbers on their first start, so we could be dealing with a fairly special horse.
Today's race is a big step up in grade, with this being a Group 2, but it's not a ridiculously tough race, and with general progression being highly likely with experience and fitness being improved on from her run at the start of last month, I believe she will be head and shoulders above this field and will be making the jump to Group 1 company in near future.
I can see her being backed into an odds-on favourite again, and if that is the case, my confidence in her winning will grow.
