It was nice to land another winner yesterday as Trac won at drifted odds at 10/1!
They went a fair gallop out in-front on testing ground which set the race up nicely for those travelling in behind. Trac had to be asked a few times to keep tabs on those in front but he responded to the jockeys urgings and when they went for home he picked up the pieces and won cosily in the end.
My selection from the meeting at Leopardstown ran a stinker. I did mention backing against the Moore and O'Brien combo can come with risks and it came back to bite me as they went on to land the spoils in the end.
There isn't much quality on show in terms of Mondays racings but I do have two selections that I hope go well.
Far Above Mary 10/1 EW – 6:00 Wolverhampton
Tipping in races with mostly un-raced two year olds comes with its risks as you're entering the unknown and don't have a lot to go on in terms of form.
My selection is one of the few in this race who does have a race under the belt and I thought she was slightly over priced in the market.
Not all the time but in some cases race experience can prove vital in these types of races. She finished fourth from seven at Southwell last week. Although she was never dangerous in terms of challenging the eventual winner I don't think her finishing position tells the whole story, as she she did make up some late ground when the penny dropped and was only beaten three lengths in the end.
I'd assume she will come on for the run and and If she settles and improves from her debut run she could be bang there at the finish.
Aerospace 11/8 – 2:50 Newcastle
It's a pity the price for this one is on the shorter side of things but at 11/8 he's just about worth a bet in my opinion.
I noted this horse a few weeks ago when he returned from 690 days off the track to win on debut for Archie Watson. He beat home a highly fancied Amo Racing type in Prince Maxi by around four lengths. Prince Maxi was sent of as short as 4/11 that day and given he had already won a race previously and in comfortably fashion he was obviously highly fancied to follow up before being done over by my selection.
Aerospace was originally trained by J&T Gosden before changing hands to Archie Watson. It is worth noting that he had some nice form for the Gosdens before switching yards. He was fourth on debut at Wolverhampton 2 lengths behind the eventual winner Emily Upjohn and also finished third behind Deauville Legend on another start for the Gosdens. Obviously it is easier now to claim that is great form as its been a long time since those runs and those two horses have now went on to much better things at high levels of racing but I can only go by whats in front of me.
A mark of 85 I think is under estimating him and it will be interesting to see how he gets on.
As usual let me know in the comments your fancies for Mondays racing!
