Last weekend's Lucky 15 bets were decent, so hopefully, we have another good crack this weekend.
Saturday's Lucky 15 returned a solid profit. Sunday's bet was reduced to a Patent after one of the horses was a NR, but still managed to get a 7/1 winner.
We have three short(ish) priced horses and one big priced horse, so today's Lucky 15 is advised as an each-way Lucky 15.
Dashing Darcey 11/2 EW (4pl) – York 1.50
A career best will be required from Dashing Darcey if he is to win this Class 3 race at York, but the drop back to 7f might be the key.
For the majority of his recent runs, Dashing Darcey has been running over a mile. He has managed to win over a mile when he was with Roger Varian, so it's not a surprise that he was kept to that trip. He has since moved to Geoffrey Harker's yard, and he has shown that he retains his ability for new connections.
Last time out, he finished a close second in a Class 3 race at Haydock. In that race, he was running on strongly at the finish over a mile. The fact that he was running on strongly over a longer trip than today would suggest he won't enjoy the drop back, but I think otherwise. At Haydock, the race wasn't run at a particularly strong gallop, but he should get a strong pace to aim at today over a furlong less. If they go hard, which is to be expected in a decent field size, he will be running on at the finish.
Lyrical Song 22/1 EW (3pl) – York 4.10
We have some very good juvenile yards showing up in this race, which has given some good value to Tim Easterby's Lyrical Song.
It's not a surprise to see the Wathnan horse at the top of the market, and the same can be said about the Karl Burke horse. However, having the experience edge over the unraced horses is worth its weight in gold, so Lyrical Song got my vote. There are other horses in this race who have already had a race, but what I saw on debut from Lyrical Song was a good start.
Tim Easterby isn't renowned for having many two-year-old winners, but this year he has been cooking. He has already had six winners in this discipline, which gives the impression that there should be more to come on his second run.
Classic Encounter 11/4 EW (4pl) – York 4.45
I've tipped up Classic Encounter once before, and he finished second. I was tempted to go in on him against last time out, but he was far too short in the market. Thankfully, he didn't get the win at Newmarket.
Today, he should be a much more appealing bet at bigger odds, as this is a decent race.
George Boughey's horse has to prove he is as effective over a furlong longer today, but I think it will be better for him. He gets rolling too late over a mile, so the extra furlong should allow him to hit top gear. Also, this galloping track should be right up his street.
Cradle Of Love 5/1 EW (3pl) – Sandown 4.25
The booking of Ryan Moore on Ollie Sangster's Cradle Of Love is enough for me to stick him in the Lucky 15.
Whenever a lesser-known yard manages to secure the services of the best jockey in the world, it definitely gives extremely positive vibes.
Ryan Moore is 1/2 when riding for Ollie, with the defeat coming in the form of a runner-up finish. This suggests they book the main man for the horses who have very good chances.
