We're delighted to have Alan Thomson back on the racing tips this week while Rizzel is on holiday. Thommo picks out two selections for us at Ripon and Chepstow.
Ripon 7.25
KING VICTOR (7.25) will appreciate the rain that fell over the weekend and may be up to defying top weight in a modest 1m 4f handicap at Ripon.
Brian Ellison’s gelding has risen to a mark of 66 on the back of a hat-trick of victories at Redcar, Windsor and Southwell, and he is entitled to strip a bit sharper on the back of a recent well-held second to Lord Torranaga on the Fibresand, his first outing in 79 days.
Chepstow 1.30
David Evans was in treble form at Chepstow four days ago and saddles two of his winners, Blue Moonrise and ALMOST AN ANGEL (1.30), back at the Welsh circuit.
The latter showed a willing attitude to fend off the persistent challenge of Accrington Stanley and has the pace to handle this drop back in trip. His 6lb penalty is effectively negated by Gina Mangan’s 7lb allowance and previous winning course form is often a reliable guide on the undulating course.

Stratford 7.05 KAPSIZE 4/1 Looks dodgy on recent outings pulled up last time and a pound out of the handicap today but got a good chance for me in this class of race.
Chepstow 3.00 WUDASHUDACUDA 11/1 each way . Outsider of the field but again looks to have a chance.
