IT will be a relief to trainers, owners and jockeys to see Carlisle back on the jumps roster following a blank summer and champion jockey Brian Hughes and Donald McCain team up with BLAKENEY POINT (1.20) in the 2m 1f novices’ hurdle.
Blakeney Point was a useful tool on the Flat for Roger Charlton and made an impressive start over obstacles when scoring easily by 11 lengths at Bangor at the end of July. Fergal O’Brien continues to bang in winners and Stoners Choice put Olly Murphy’s Copperless in his place at Perth last month.
Quite an interesting little puzzle to solve in the 5f maiden at Southwell, with KING OF STARS (6.15) equipped with cheekpieces on second start for Mick Appleby since leaving Joseph O’Brien. King Of Stars shaped okay when sixth to Higher Kingdom in a novice stakes at Newcastle at the end of last month. Leapers Wood almost broke his duck at Redcar on first start for Julie Camacho (formerly with Paul Midgely and Michael Dods).
GUISEPPE CASSIOLI (1.30) posted a solid piece of form when last seen at Kempton in June, running third to Raatea and Semser, and should go well in the opener at Lingfield.
