Berkshire Nugget was disappointing on Friday and given he's due to be raised further after today, I wouldn't be going anywhere near him anytime soon.
I've two selections for Saturday's racing that come from the meetings at Newcastle and Newmarket.
Alphonse Le Garde 10/3 – Newcastle 2.35
My first selection of the day is Alphonse Le Garde. Although heading the current market, I thought he was still an attractive price at 10/3.
Alphonse Le Garde was due to run in another race however, he missed the cut and instead runs here. Alphonse Le Garde comes here in great form having recently won the Chester plate last month under jockey William Buick. He won that contest quite cosily in the end, winning by over two lengths to the eventual second Hamsiyann.
He ran off a low mark of 73 that day and given how he won, the handicapper has wasted no time in having his say and he now contests this race with a mark of 81. Some argue it's a tad harsh but after watching the replay, I'd say it's about right.
My selection remains unexposed as a stayer and surely has his sights set on bigger races than this in due course. Hollie Doyle takes over the reigns from William Buick and she comes here with a decent strike rate at the track, operating at roughly 20%. She rode a winner at Newcastle on Friday in the finale and I'm hoping she can get the job done on Alphonse Le Garde for us on Saturday.
King Of Conquest 5/4 – Newmarket 2.50
King Of Conquest is short enough in the market but looks a worthy favourite on paper in my opinion.
My selection brings the best piece of form to the table having already beaten the current second favourite in the market Aimeric in a listed contest at Goodwood a few weeks ago. King Of Conquest beat Aimeric by just under 3L on that occasion and I see no way in that one reversing the form if King Of Conquest runs again to a similar standard.
The Goodwood run isn't the only piece of form my selection brings to the party. Before the Goodwood run, King Of Conquest ran in a Group 3 at Newbury last month, going down by a nose to the Gosden-trained Middle Earth. Middle Earth was well-fancied for the Group 2 Hardwicke at the Royal Ascot, finishing with a late dash to finish third, 4 and a half lengths of the winner Isle Of Jurra who has now won 8 from his last 10 outings.
I want to say a big thank you to all who post here. I have learned so much from all of you. Know that when you do post many – like me – love hearing your insights etc.
You have only truly learned something when after years of punting you realise it’s a mugs game and nobody wins in the end . I don’t mind losing my money it’s just an activity to me that costs money at the end of the day and just to it for the roller coaster ride of emotions it brings , I think ? ?.
Biggest win off smallest stake question?
Mine was horse £20 Ew at 16/1 won
Football did 2 pound ACCA on 8 teams won £988 that was some years ago. Lost thousands over the years but always remember good ones lol
2 last year. One good and bad
The Good
50p lucky 15 (£1 ew ACCA)
4 winners all at 7-1
8k back
The Bad
Day after Cheltenham finished
10p lucky 31 ( 20p ew acca)
First 4 won. Took £400 cash out offer after the 3rd won ( definitely went too soon)
Then took 5.5k they offered just before the last one. It won ? would of been 44k if I’d not of cashed out either. Not a bad return for £3.50 but it could of been better. Not retirement money but it would of helped. Got a holiday in Thailand out of it at least
lucky blue 11.00 France well done all winners yesterday
Raffles honour 11-31 Dieppe ?? 2-1 bet365

Hi All,
I’ve had a tough time of it over the past couple of months, both Father and Mother ending up in hospital (different hospital’s) within a few days of each other.
Father unfortunately passed away, he was 92 so had a good innings but its always sad to lose someone regardless and mother still in hospital and I’m trying to sort out all the required paperwork for her to go to a nursing home which is an utter nightmare if you’ve never tried it, especially when trying to do it for someone else.
Add in my own appointments to physio and speech & Language it’s been a shit show and have had to put my hobbies on hold obviously.
Anyway I have a bit more free time now so hopefully I can join in a bit more often going forward.
I’ll stick to home soil mostly but will throw my tuppence worth in on the big meetings across the water too.
I’ll put up my selections in a bit and will also put up Sundays as I have a couple of strong fancies and odds are already available.
All the best you and yours bud?
Much appreciated thief ?
All the best DC. I love reading your write ups – so much passion and knowledge.
My ♥️ goes out to you bud.
Stay strong DC Sir – know you will.
Sat through a good few ‘shit show’ as you call it myself and I’d definitely keep the hobby up for sure…if you post that’s a bonus. ?? ?
Glad you posted today although not good news it’s good you’ve shared that.
All the best going forward ?

No selection but the race is worth a look.
City of Troy won it last year and there’s some very well bred horses running this year too.
Interesting to see current fav Rock of Cashel is 33/1 yet Trinity College who is 12’s today is only 25’s for the 2k guineas.
2.20 Grande Marques 9/1 ew
Only had the 1 run when finishing just 1/2L behind January who won nto and also runs here but GM was a bit unlucky in running and could turn the tables. Trainer has won this race in 2020 with a similar. At the odds Worth an ew nibble
2.55
Fav looks like defeat is out of the question looking at the odds, but although he won easily on debut the form of the race looks poor and at 12/1 I think Wendla even with a penalty is a very good ew bet with proven form in the book having beaten Buttons lto who ran with credit in the Irish 1k guineas to finish 4th. Tries the trip for the first time but on pedigree should be fine with it.
3.30 Lumiere Rock 6/1 ew
Bluestocking the one to beat but always seems to struggle to win at this distance and Emily Upjohn has been dreadful so far this season so I’ll take my chances with LR ew
Back with Sunday’s later
BOL
slinky malinki 12.03 France nap
noble dynasty 3.25 nb
Curragh Sunday
1.10 Sharinay 5/2 NAP
Runs here off 95 having gone up just 2lbs for finishing 3/4L 2nd to Chicago Critic who finished 3rd in the Jersey and is now rated 109.
Simply has to be well h”capped here.
1.40 Tunbridge Wells 2/1
Wears headgear which is always a bit of a worry for a 2yr old but the form of his last run took a huge boost when Mighty Eriu finished 2nd in the Queen Mary.
2.15 Commanche Falls 6/4
Won the race last year and is clear on ratings to repeat this year.
4.05 Ambiente Friendly 5/4
If this race was being run in the UK AF would be 4/6. He holds LA on Derby form and unless Ballydoyle come up with some sort of boxing in tactic I just can’t see how LA turns the form around.
All the best DC ?

Lovely by C.Fallon there on Wiltshire! ?
Didn’t look like I was even getting my money back for Top 4 with Skybet offer only for him to win!
Used to follow his Dads rides with Godolphin almost blindly when I first started betting and it wasn’t the worst tactic for a number of years!
