Well, as predicted, Glamorous Express was steadily supported between Saturday night and post time yesterday, moving from the recommended 14/1 all the way down to 11/2. Sadly, he couldn’t get the job done, despite coming with a decent run late in the day, finishing a close-up third. Beat the closing odds like that on a regular basis, though, and not only are you taking value for money, but you’ll likely do well in the long run.

A new week begins and we head to Thirsk, where in the final race, the David O’Meara runner stands out in the early betting.
Capital Guarantee hasn’t won since landing the three-timer over this trip at Epsom back in August of last year, and he hasn’t really performed with promise all that often either, though he has slipped to what must be considered a very generous mark, so don’t be too surprised if we see the gelding start to turn things around soon.
A race like this should be within his grasp from a lowly mark
His Class 4 effort at Beverley back in July wasn’t bad, suggesting that a Class 5 contest of this type would certainly be within reach for the four-year-old, who remains relatively lightly raced.
A course and distance winner, the gelding scored in a Class 4 here last season, winning from a mark of 78. This tells us that he really ought to have a big performance in him at Class 5 level from a mark of 68.
Right up there on speed ratings, the mount of Danny Tudhope arrives for a trainer who has definitely found some form with his runners of late, while Tudhope has a 100% record on this horse too.
Throw into the mix that O’Meara has a rather eye-catching 30.23% strike rate at Thirsk in the last year and odds of 11/1 really do start to look on the chunky side. If you’re looking for something at a decent price that ticks more boxes than the early odds suggest, then you won’t find many better on what is a largely uninspiring Monday.
Based on a £10 level-stakes example, the Nap of the Day running profit is -£60 (since switching to being published here rather than on the ‘Nap of the Day' page).
