SUNDAY'S nap & NB were both non runners which was disapointing and JohnB's third tip drifted out to 14-1 but could only finish fifth.

He started the day with a 2.5 point profit for January so with just the one bet and no return that's now down to 1.5.

Boz ur rite & so R the others … It is a racing thread, the same regulars R here day in day out putting their tips up, it pays some days & some days it don’t , sometimes a tip on a different sport on this thread saves the day … The basic rule is to beat the bookies , it’s a small family on here ( the regulars) that av chit chat and share knowledge, so in my opinion let it b .. It’s harmless if u don’t abuse it … Btw well done boz & thanks for ur tips ,they’re always welcomed & the fc today

    w 3.50 cascadia 3/1 bet365

    happy days

  20. Luke A 4 years ago

Not a great deal I fancy with confidence today, so will just put up a couple I fancy to at least place
    12.50 Jumbo Prado 8/1
    2.00 Claude Carter 7/1
each way singles and each way double.

Of the shorter priced horses today, I think you could do worse than these 3
    4.20 Thomas Blossom 11/8
    1.10 King Edmund 6/4
    3.40 Dracos Code 6/4

Off to watch a friend make his debut in the BDO championship today. He’s on at 1pm and is called Rhys Hayden if anyone is interested. He’s only 20 and has a big future. He’s extremely confident of a win against Widmayer today. And also confident he’ll beat his first round opponent tomorrow if he wins his preliminary today.

  21. jimba 4 years ago

Luke A i won with thomas blossom last time, u think he’ll follow up today m8?

  22. Luke A 4 years ago

I reckon so mate. A fair chunk of money came for it soon after the books opened last night. It handles Tapeta which always helps. Only up 4lb too, so I think it’ll take all the beating. Plenty of others on here fancy it too. I wouldn’t put you off it that’s for sure.

  23. Mav 4 years ago

Morning folks really confident with these 3 today treble odds work out 7/1

    1.40 Ling – Cloudy Copper 4/7
    3.00 Muss – Royal Player 6/5
    4.20 Wolv – Thomas Blossom 11/8

This will be my only accumulator bet the rest will be done on singles selections from the usual suspects on the site.

    Good luck everyone

Luke is ur buddy worth a good punt he’s ranked 219 in world compared to his opponent 49??

  28. Luke A 4 years ago

Cheers Mav. May do, but he’s only 4/6 which come as bit of a surprise, as was expecting about evens.
Not sure I’d be backing cloudy copper today. It should most definitely win, but at those odds, and the absolutely dreadful form that the O’Neill stable are in, I personally wouldn’t back it. But I hope it romps in for you mate

  29. Luke A 4 years ago

He’s new to the scene, hence why he’s so low in rankings. He spent this year mostly playing in the youth events. He qualified for a European event the same day he qualified for the world’s, which was his 20th birthday. Couple days later he played in European event, and beat one of the tourney favourites Wesley Harms 3-1. But then lost to the eventual winner matt Phillips in the next round. Within the last 2 weeks in practice, he hit his first 9 darter, and also hit another 7 perfect darts. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing him today. Bookies are clearly taking no chances with him, hence making him favourite. Regardless what happens today, he’s got what it takes to make it big

Just a word of warning about a horse that has been mentioned alot on here Thomas Blossom

He is the form horse in the race and is a worthy favourite on form and there has been money for him
on previous form for all these horses he should win with a bit in hand

But there is another factor in this race which should be taken seriously
we have a horse which after 3 maiden runs has done nothing but today on handicap debut is upped in distance by 5f
this is always an eyecatching move as alot of trainers do it now

    But its not just that
This horse will on breeding seriously love this step up in distance and looking into his breeding more you can see he is a half brother to RED CADEAUX

Now i am not saying Disco Dale is going to be anywhere as good as Red Cadeaux in future because thats highly unlikely
but what i will say is that DISCO DALE on pedigree is a far better horse than his opening handicap mark of 45

Now Disco Dale was 4/1 but has drifted to 8/1 but i cant take that as a negetive because alot of times money doesnt come for the Richard Fahey horses

The only negetive i can see is that Disco Dale is due to go down 4lb after this race so it would make sence to have a go next time
but then if you were having a go next time why would you up the horse in distance today
the only answer i can come up with is that connections are not bothered about bothred about a gamble although money might come later on

All in all after looking at this race in depth again i wouldnt lay Thomas Blossom because so many factors say he will win this but i couldnt back him at his odds
but i could be tempted to do Disco Dale e/w at 8/1 as there are reasons to believe he could run away with this from a mark of 45

but with Disco Dale you are not backing on form, you are backing him on what he could be

    Good luck whatever you back

  48. Mav 4 years ago

Appreciate the write up about the horse in Thomas Blossom race JohnB as that is the final horse in my treble so if the 1st 2 win then i will also have an e/w cover bet on Disco Dale… if the 1st 2 dont then most likely will leave the race as Thomas 2 short now

  49. Mav 4 years ago

Not my write up just passing on the information

Top weight – Clement (stall 11 of 11) – stands out in the opening 7f Ladbrokes Apprentice Handicap at Wolverhampton (12.50), as he earned good speed figures on his last two starts (better than any his rivals have recorded recently) and he scored last time out. On recent evidence he’s well drawn, as six of the last seven big-field (10+ runners) course and distance handicap winners came from high draws…

    Stall 7 of 12
    Stall 9 of 12
    Stall 8 of 11
    Stall 8 of 10
    Stall 10/11
    Stall 3 of 10
    Stall 10 of 10

Clement appreciated the drop to Class 6 company when scoring over this jockey at Lingfield last time and the form was boosted when runner-up Al’s Memory went one better in a Class 5 contest on Saturday. His Sire, Clodovil, is 3-23 here since the Tapeta was laid (13% strike-rate) and he should go close if handling the surface.

  50. Donny 4 years ago

    2 muss – wild pastures 4/1 nap

    320 w’hampton – dozy joe 9/2 nb

  51. dougiec 4 years ago

Afraid Im against a few tips on here but will keep my own counsel Some trappy races, and a couple not mentioned that I have backed.
Wilde Pastures 13/2 last night (Duncans)2.00 Muss
    Emirates Skycargo..1.20 Wolv
Also R/FC Pops Well/Moonunderwater..2.55 Thurles, remember Indian Rupee last week.
Gl No such thing as a shoe in as yesterday showed

  52. johnb 4 years ago

Busstop i would be interesting for people to hear why you fancy Gores Island

I can only say why i dont fancy him and its mostly because of his jumping as he has come down in a third of his Chasing races and in his others he has just proved he isnt as good a chaser as he is a hurdler
I also think he is too highly handicapped for his form and out of the two Gary Moore horses i would think Grabtheglory has the better chance even at 14/1

Another point on Gores Island is that the horse is a poor finisher
he travels well in his races but when it comes to the end of his races he doesnt see it through

  53. Dancing Brave 4 years ago

    Trainers thoughts John and Busstop

    Gores Island
    Mon 5th Jan 2015

Dancing Brave i know thats the trainers view but it doesnt make sense to me
Why is a trainer talking about a horses hurdle race when the horse is chasing today and as i have said his chasing form is not as good as his hurdling form

  58. Dancing Brave 4 years ago

Just for info John, personally I ignore anything that the trainers say !!

  59. busstop 4 years ago

    Hi john

Would have to go back to gores islands last run over fences in April at Exeter

He was held up made headway 4 out. Challenged 3 out. Took the lead going easy between 3rd last and 2 last. But then fell unluckly in my opinion at the 2nd last. Looked like a winner

He was carrying top weight of 11s 8. that day and is over a shorter distance today which I believe will suit

Yes his las two runs have been over hurdle not fences. But watched his last run which seemed a much improved run in my opinion

  65. johnb 4 years ago

    Lac Sacre (NB)

Only his third chase and although down the field in both he does look like he enjoys chasing and looks like he can be better than he was at hurdling
which makes his opening handicap mark quite a low one in my opinion

This also looks a weak race with question marks about alot of these and this race is here for the taking for a horse well handicapped and improving

If the jockey can get Lac Sacre settled and into a good rhythm round here then he has a major chance and should win

  66. Kev 4 years ago

Thanks for the mention guys, In regards to Claude Carter. Shame all others in Yankee didn’t even place lol. Should have stuck to my original plan of singles and double on that and Jumbo Prado. Never mind. Not had chance to check all results to tips on here yet. Hope several had winners. Well done to those that did.

Now the racing is over I’ll just put up a little footy tip I’m on tonight.

Sampdoria win or draw 21/20 B365

This team have been good to this year and I think they’ll be good tonight as well.

  133. Kev 4 years ago

Dougsie got tickets for the Scottish grand national at Ayr for me and the mrs this Xmas. But my winnings will be straight in the wedding pot for July haha! :(

DC, spot on mate. On coach on way back, and he’s on here with us. Problem is he’s got so many different people telling him different things. Hopefully he’ll watch it back for himself over next few days and make his own mind up. Personally, I think he let the occasion get the better of him. Which is understandable. If he would’ve just played the board, he’d have won comfortably. Instead he was looking into crowd a lot, looking at screens, looking for help even at times. He needs to accept he has natural ability, and focus purely on that. Try to forget the occasion, audience, opponent etc. I’ve got high hopes for him that’s for sure

    Great work Kev!

Does anyone else suffer from the “back ALMOST every tip on here in case u miss one” syndrome ….only for the ones you miss to romp it and the ones you didnt could have walked it quicker!

Need a new strategy me thinks! All suggestions welcome!? :)

  139. Duncan Poundcake 4 years ago

Sorry if I put anyone off a winner ,8 Runners at one meeting and only place money to pay for the diesil. It’s a wonder that owners put up with trainers running 3 in the one race without him giving them a winner to pay their expenses.Rant over .Onwards .
Well done to all who tipped winners

ive been there myself with a different sport (wont go into it) but when your young you build yourself up so much that when it comes to the time and things dont go to plan it can feel twice as bad then you try too hard to put things right. If i was to give any advice it would to try not get to the venue too early as the more time you have to soak up the athmosphere the more it can play on the minds of young shoulders. So if like today when there was no trafic rather than going to the venue, go for a walk or check out the local sites or something.
Eventually if hes got the talent and the belief he will come good.

  141. Luke A 4 years ago

Funny you should say that, he went up to the venue Friday night, and stayed at hotel on site from then onwards. That was what the BDO advised him to do. Yet, come to think of it, when he beat Wesley Harms the other month, it was only few days after he qualified, and he had no time to soak up the atmosphere or see the venue etc prior to the match. Then when came to next round, there was a powercut just before the end of the match before his. Martin Phillips clearly dealt much better with the delay than Rhys did, and went on to win comfortably.
What sport was it you played if you don’t mind me asking? I’m going to pass on your advice for sure, as it seems like sound advice to me!

Just noticed TONY MARTIN has another in the 1.40 aswell DELVIN ROAD. Im blind as a bat!!

  143. double carpet 4 years ago

I was a snooker player and played all the amateur tournaments and was in the same boat as your friend but learnt over the years that staying away from venues was better for me as it kept my mind off it. Especially when meeting some of the top guys.

  144. Napper valley 4 years ago

JP. My only advice would be to study yourself. Learn what to look for in a horse and then use this to evaluate the tips from those you rate.

Backing blind will drain your bank quickly with horses.

If you want to have fun stick pence on and enjoy. If you want to make money you’ve got to be patient, spend time studying and disciplined.

    Napper Valley;

Sampdoria have just sold one of there best player in Gabiadini to Napoli. An must be hurting from that… It caused such a stir at the airport that they had to shut it down.

  148. johnb 4 years ago

Mondays Nap was another non runner and we started the day with a 1.5 point profit
2 points staked today with no return so january now shows a 0.5 point loss
Mondays Nb was 3rd advised at 10/1

    Tuesdays Tips

    Thermal Column 13/2 NB bet365

    Randalls Alannah 7/1 paddy power

Prince Blackthorn 2/1 NAP paddy power

  149. johnb 4 years ago

    Prince Blackthorn (NAP)
Recently left the William Amos yard to join Barry Murtagh but he has kept this horse at Sedgefield where he loves it
The second good decision is to keep Brian Harding onboard

As i said this horse loves it here and won twice last season over course and distance
He has since come back after a break with a good 2nd to Rundswick Days here but did make some mistakes when last seen here and could only manage 3rd

This is a weaker race on paper but even with the change of yard Prince Blackthorn should be able to get back to winning ways

  150. johnb 4 years ago

    Thermal Column (NB)
This is a well bred horse who is a half brother to the smart 5yo Godolphin horse Ahzeemah and also Tiger Roll who won the Triumph hurdle
The breeding also says that running at Southwell wont be a problem

Again like alot of my tips the potential form of this horse has to be taken on trust but on a lowly handicap mark he wont have to do too much to win here

  151. dougiec 4 years ago

Johnb was looking at both Haggis horses at Southwell and just thought Toofeeg,Approved gelding may be the answer off 69 blinkered but not sure about surface.Think Ill look elsewhere.I take your point about yours handling surface.
