It’s Thursday night and that means it’s time for some greyhound racing. It was very nice to land two winners on Saturday night, with the first two bets both being available at user friendly prices when chalked up, before being well backed. They justified that market support, that's for sure.
Today’s greyhound tips
Tonight, there are three races that I’m interested in at Newcastle and Monmore. Details on three potential bets, odds allowing, are below.
I’m going to continue to confirm that the odds in brackets are the minimum odds to take. Based on my own opinion, I’ve priced these races up to 100%. If the odds in the brackets or bigger are available, the dog in question is a bet. If shorter odds are on offer when priced up, there’s no bet from my point of view.
Tip 1: Hurry Up Ivy (take odds of 5/2+)
Race #3 Newcastle @ 19:11
Tonight’s first port of call is the third race at Newcastle, where for my money, it’s a match race between the two outside traps.
I may well be wrong, but if I’m not and the orange and striped jackets settle down to battle this one out, I make the runner widest of all the slight favourite for the prize. I’m not sure that the early market is going to reflect that, so there could be some value on offer.
Crooks Dreamer was well supported at this level last time following his A5 win, but he couldn’t quite get it done and though he can definitely go well here, I’m not sure he’ll be able to topple Hurry Up Ivy if she’s on a going day.
She’s gone close in several A4 races recently and now looks to have a nice opportunity to strike for a trainer who has a decent record at this level.
At the end of the day, I make Trap 6 around about a 9/4 shot for this race, so if you can get odds of 5/2 or bigger, you’ll be taking a slice of value.
Tip 2: Halo Tristan (take odds of 9/4+)
Race #5 Monmore @ 19:22
Moving on to Monmore, ahead of the fifth race, I very much like the look of Halo Tristran in this line-up.
Now, I’m expecting the dog in Trap 5 to be popular in the early betting following a recent win, but she doesn’t exactly stand out as a follow-up type as far as I’m concerned.
The short price that Trap 5 will likely command here should mean that the dog in Trap 3 goes up at decent odds, which is fine by me.
Halo Tristan beat Haggie’s Girl over this trip not that long ago and did so quite comfortably. Relatively speaking, I think she has two weak runners either side of her, so she should get a decent start and if that happens, this is hers for the taking.
After all, she was a winner when last seen at this level and as long as odds of at least 9/4 are on offer when the prices go up, I’ll be all over her to get the job done here.
Tip 3: Slingshot Bella (take odds of 7/4+)
Race #6 Newcastle @ 20:01
Ending the evening from a betting point of view we have Slingshot Bella, who goes in the sixth race at Newcastle.
Quite simply, with the box next to her empty, I make the wide runner quite a sizable favourite here.
She wasn’t far away when dropping back down to this level for the first time in a while last time out and this is now something of a gilt-edged opportunity on paper.
The bitch in the striped jacket has run well in better races than this and with plenty of room to work with here she has the chance of a clear favourite. If odds of 7/4 or bigger are available, she’ll represent a very solid bet in my book.
Acca bet & other markets to explore
If you want to play a multi, then using the minimum odds to take (in brackets above) as an example, you’ll be looking at something around the 30/1 mark.

Unlucky Bradley for the prices I got treble whould have paid just over 31-1 .I had 7-2 and 11′-8 or the 2 winners going to a little bit on My uncle bill 21-28 Newcastle like Yvonne bells dogs.Only 5 runner’s
.
Treble would have been nice for you David, but I won’t complain about the two winners. Got on just after prices first went up and took 13/2 (stupidly generous price) and 9/4 (both betfair) on the two winners myself. I’ll watch out for your bet at Newcastle, good luck.
13-2 365 opened up at 7-2 al get betfair tomorrow mate thanks
I scanned a few firms and saw that 365 had opened at 7/2. With lots of evening races, often getting big disparity between firms when first chalking up early afternoon. Unlucky with that bet in the 21:28, trouble at the first bend.
Yes Bradley like our second dog if it doesn’t trap ya out
