I don't like advising short prices which drift to an each-way price and win but we'll definitely take it, it was coupled up with a nice priced 16/1 place but unfortunately, yet again we were until to hit that third horse which would have given us some profit.

Today's runners all have something to prove in all races which should make good viewing. Things have slacked here a bit but singles are holding their own, hopefully we can kickstart the weekend early today.

Attacanter Racing Tips

John L Sullivan 6/1 four places – 16.45 Ayr

A chance is taken on the Lucinda Russell trained John L Sullivan who is by Ten Sovereigns, his progeny landed our winner yesterday.

The horse, just a 3yo started out his handicapping career well off a mak of 57, finishing 2nd of 15 rivals, he was sent back soon after 2lbs higher claiming his victory. He didn't enjoy the tough Hamilton but his run here over 7f was decent.

He was a neck behind Braes of Doune that day, he's 11lbs better off, that horse is currently the favourite for this race, today is over a furlong extra but that should only suit us.

The trainer won this race two years ago, she has regular riders at the track but Tom Eaves was on board last time, whilst when winning she had booked Kevin Stott, who isn't a regular for her either.

Vicario 8/1 – 15.40 Ayr

Ed Walker's Lope de Vega filly Vicario has done little wrong in her young career, finishing in the places in all of her five starts since debut before winning last time at Haydock.

She was an even money favourite that day beating just three rivals, the 2nd is the only horse to have raced since, winning in a Class 4.

Her likeable form at a lower level and consistency is enough to make me chance her in this. Billy Loughnane landed a 25/1 winner at York for the trainer last month, Ed has 5 winners in Class 1 company this year. In June 2023 he sent a horse here for today's owners winning a Listed race

Diligent Resdev 16/1 six places – 16.15 Ayr

The Ayr Bronze Cup is an old-fashioned cavalry charge in which picking the winner can be as hard as it is for some of us to even spot our runner before 3 furlongs are over.

With a pleasing amount of places on offer, there are twice as many appealing runners so I'm sure many of you will be having a go at this race yourself. I am not going to dig through rivals or side with one of the more obvious options, my eye is draw to the top-weight.

Diligent Resdev is a lightly raced 3yo from the Mick and David Easterby yard who are no strangers to success here, they had a winner yesterday, the horse won two of his three starts, performing well over 7f he was upped in trip without really showing. Last time over today's distance he was 5th of 14 at Newcastle's Racing League meeting.

This race is a step up but his win at York in May rated 76 is quite pleasing and anything like that should see it in the mix now 3lbs lower.

Shamran 9/1 four places – 17.15 Newbury

I was once a fan of Hollie Doyle when she began to pick up rides for this ownership group, they've had many a good horse since typically with Hollie and John Gosden.

The Harry Charlton yard is sending out a few that are running encouragingly enough, he's had 3 go in this week and has a debutant perhaps worth risking on this card too.

This Kingman colt has a pleasing 4-race career, winning last time cosily, upped just 3lbs for that, he'll need to improve for the step up in trip now treading into slightly deeper waters against many likeable rivals.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
