MUNTAHAA is well worth an interest in the Melbourne Cup, run in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with several firms offering generous each-way terms.
John Gosden has already conquered America with Enable and Muntahaa arrives a fresh horse Down Under having enjoyed a long break since annihilating his rivals in the 20-runner Ebor Handicap at York in August.
The five-year-old, fourth in the 2016 St Leger, is clearly at home in big fields as he posted another fine effort at Royal Ascot when a running-on third to Monarchs Glen.
Hopefully funds will be supplemented by AMANDINE (6.30) at Kempton. David Simcock’s filly is out to snap a frustrating spell, posting seconds at Newmarket and Ascot recently, and she looks excellent ew value.
ROSARNO (7.00) may be able to defy top weight in the mile handicap following a solid course and distance third last time.
Recommended bets
- Melbourne Cup – Muntahaa ew (10-1, bet365)
- Kempton 6.30 – Amadine (15-2, BetBright)
- Kempton 7.00 – Rosarno (7-2, William Hill)

Avillus 12/1 1pt win
Kempton

18:00 crowned eagle 13/8 2pt win
Nice to see your Avilius selection. After 18 years living down here the cup attracts great attention. If proceedings turn to normal after last years surprise Avilius has gate weight and age in its favour. In a similar vein also little wager on Sir Charles Road at 66/1!

Crowned eagle 6-00 kempton 13-8
Tight call 4-15 Hereford 5-6
Double just under 4-1
Ding ding 3-00 plumpton may be worth a look.
Beat 12 lengths by a race fit royal hall last time, today gets 7lb pull for that.
Won this last year off 4 lb less, all 4 jumps wins been here with same jockey, including this time of year in 2016 and 2017.
I Always look at the outsider of 3 in races for value as they seem to win quite often.
This probably pie in the sky so just had a few Bob on at 7-2.
Maybe split the 2 favourites and come 2nd at 13-8 also ???

Besides, Alan, I have heard over tip up ROSARNO, so let us look at the race.
Harry Bentley takes over on ROSARNO tonight, he rode a winner at tonight’s venue 3 days ago, so he is an apt replacement. The horse has ran well the last two times, 2nd in a class 4 1m at Chelmsford and lto over C&D finishing 3rd in class 5. None of those races at a glance have decent form lines, besides going down to a neck lto to Choral Music who won off 73. Tonight ROSARNO races off 77, on G2S ground he came 1st and 2nd over a mile off 76 and 78, so he is entitled to win this race… however there aren’t too many positives it seems.
MR MINERALS, his market rival and the fav, is racing off 73 with his riders claim taken into consideration. This is the horses first run since August having had a wind op but he has mainly been running in class 4 company off marks between 80-89, finishing 3rd in tonights C&D off of 15lbs higher. SW Kelly usually rides, and I think the good claimer has been put in place to almost assure victory.
Next in the market is ARCTIC SEA, from a jockey/trainer combo who can spring a surprise or two. He runs from 72, having won off 71 two starts back, he is definitely weighted to win being 3lbs above a C&D victory on his handicap bow.
KINGSTON KURRAJONG looks at of form but has to enter consideration. He runs off 74, and is back in class 5 company, where he does his winning. He has won 3 times since getting a rating, two of those times were in the exact same race as tonight, both times he carried more weight than tonight (1 and 3lbs respectively). Placing no where, he has contested C2 and 3 races recently, with BIG adam Kirby on board, I suspect he should be there or thereabouts and is my pick, currently at 7/1.
FIELDSMAN – 142 is his last 3 runs figures, two of which in a lower grade, lto he won a class 6 event off tonights mark and has been rated as high as 92, so could be capable of anything running from 65.
Having looked at the runners, I am hoping for KINGSTON KURRAJONG to cause an upset, bol. CASINA DI NOTTE, ran a good 4th to some nice horses in a class 4, the horses in front have gone on to do reasonably well, and this time Casina is ridden by 7lb claimer instead of 3lbs and looks value at 14s.
lol, typically the 1 horse i neglect to look at holds off my pick in a photo, glad my reasoning was on the right lines though, posted 2 late luckily so no one lost anything either :D
What about the next database
time has dictated i cant look properly, i think the top 3 in the market are worthy, eddy greatrex steps off enmeshing to ride Broad Appeal, for a trainer who has had a winner or 2 recently. however ENMESHING looks to have a chance, given he came 3rd over C&D off tonights mark.. the difference being he is ridden by a 5lb claimer. just realised this is too late too.
