THERE is an action-packed Scottish card today and it's one I really like the look of with a number of games standing out.

Hibs host  Hamilton and should get new manager Paul Heckingbottom's tenure at Easter Road off to a winning start.

Partick Thistle have found a bit of form and have added experienced striker Scott McDonald to their ranks. They should see off Alloa.

Dundee look value to get a goal at a Livingston side whose honeymoon start to the season is over whiletheir neighbours Dundee United are well priced away to QoS  – I'm on a United win and over 2.5 goals.

Alloa vs Partick Thistle (3pm)

For the second week in a row I'm taking Alloa to go down to another relegation rival as Partick Thistle roll into town. I was on Falkirk at 2-1 to win here last week and same rules apply this week.

Thistle have had a good transfer window bringing in extra quality and experience in the form of Joe Cardle from Dunfermline and St Johnstone legend Steven Anderson, the latter scoring two goal in two games which is a good return for a central defender.

The Jags are in great shape coming into this having won their last 4 games and have further strengthened by adding ex Motherwell and Celtic striker Scott McDonald to bolster their attacking options.

Quite the contrast to Alloa who have now lost 4 on the spin and look certainties to head back down to League One. Manager Jim Goodwin deserves huge credit for making his part-time side as competitive as they have with a small squad and a fraction of the budget in comparison to all the other sides.

Thistle look good value to me to make it 5 wins on the spin and leapfrog Alloa to escape bottom of the league

Recommended Bet

  • Partick Thistle to beat Alloa
  • (5-4, Unibet) (NAP)

Hibs vs Hamilton (3pm)

Farcical is the only word to describe the Hibs manager appointment saga but it's all done and dusted which will please everyone involved.

Most clubs get a new manager bounce but I don't think Hibs will even need that here against a Hamilton side who have won just one of their last 11 matches.

Hibs thrashed the visitors here last time and while I don't expect a similar scoreline today I do expect Hibs to make it a winning start for manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Hibs have better players and with home advantage should see off Hamilton by a couple of goals.

Recommended Bet

  • Hibs and over 1.5 match goals
  • (10-11, Ladbrokes)

Livingston vs Dundee (3pm)

I'm a big fan of teams to score market and you can back Dundee to score today at 4-7 which is a bit skinny so taking the Dees to score before 77 mins.

It's Dundee's first game in 10 days and while we all know how tough to beat Livingston are they are starting to get found out a bit and are not the team they were at the start of the season. They battered Dundee here 4-0 earlier in the season which I'm sure Dundee will want to put right.

This will be a closely-fought encounter but feel Dundee can get on the scoresheet.

Recommended Bet

  • Dundee goal before 77 mins
  • (5-6, bet365)

Queen of the South vs Dundee United (3pm)

Every game is a cup final for United and with Ross County playing in the Irn-Bru competition last night they have a terrific opportunity to put pressure on the Highlanders by closing the gap at the top to 3 points.

Since the end of the transfer window it's been a perfect start for Robbie Nielson's side  – 2 wins from 2 one of which was a Scottish Cup win away at Premiership side St Mirren last week.

Add into the mix a 7-0 reserve league win against Dundee on Tuesday and there is a feelgood factor at Tannadice and I'm taking them to get three points against Stephen Dobbie, sorry I mean QoS.

United have to much quality and experience and need to win this game.

Recommended Bet

  • Dundee United to beat QoS
  • (5-4, Unibet)
