Injuries to key players including goal machine Lawrence Shakland has really affected them and boss Ian McCall knows his team need to start winning games again and soon
Last weeks embarrassing Scottish cup defeat exit to junior side Auchinleck Talbot certainly can’t have helped morale and with Shankland missing again you have to asks where are the goals going to come from especially given they have only found the net once in thier last 5 games.
3 draws followed by three defeats is hardly good shape coming into such a massive game and defeat tonight would see them drop to 3rd and for me end their hope of winning the league.
Dundee United have made some useful signings in the transfer window and new boss Robbie Neilson is starting to shape his team.
He’s seen the best and worst of United in his three months in charge but they come into this full of confidence and should fancy themselves against an Ayr side who I feel have ran out of puff .
I napped them at 6/5 to beat Dunfermline in their last league game and they did business winning 1-0.
Taking them to get another win tonight – momentum is with them and with Ayr missing players again this is a great opportunity for Dundee United to make a statement
