THIS week the USPGA heads to Las Vegas Nevada for the Shriners Hospital Open.
The course is the TPC Summerlin which is a Par 71 of over 7,250 yards. With the weather expected to be warm and sunny with very little wind, scoring will be exceptionally low.
The majority of the holes are birdie opportunities and I expect the winning score to be in the region of 20 under par. Defending Champion this week is Patrick Cantlay but in my opinion is poor value at around 18/1. The tournament also has a history of first time winners and starts on Thursday 1st November with the first tee off time around 3.00 pm UK time.
The field also includes Jordan Spieth, Webb Simpson, Tony Finau and Bryson DeChambeau. Finau will still be wondering how he let a three shot lead get away from him last Sunday when losing to Xander Schauffele in a play-off.
My three who I think represent some value this week are as follows;
Jordan Spieth
Jordan Spieth is an interesting starter this week having added this tournament to his schedule after failing to make the Tour obligations last year of playing in 25 tournaments. He's not been seen since the Ryder Cup and is starting his season earlier than normal. If his putter is running hot this week then he will go close.
Patrick Rodgers
Second pick is Patrick Rodgers who was a former world amateur No. 1. He finished a respectable Tied 14th at the Sandersons last weekend, shooting a 67 in the final round. With a career low round of 63 Rodgers can go low and can go close to winning his maiden tour victory this week.
Alex Cejka
Thirdly, I like the chances of Alex Cejka. As a local resident he has good sound knowledge of the course and twice in the last three years has finished second, last year being beaten in a three way play off. Has solid chances this week.
