Tour Championship FedEx Cup
IN THE States this week a select field of the best 30 players on the planet (except Jordan Spieth) will compete for the Tour Championship and the final leg of the FedEx Cup over the East Lake Course in Atlanta.
The winner of the Tour Championship will walk away with a cool $1.62 million out of a total purse of $9 million while there is a $10 million bonus for the winner roof the season long FedEx Cup.
Four weeks ago we started with the top 125 then down to 100 then 70 and now the elite 30 will compete for the honour of FedEx Champion. But be warned, the winner of the Tour Championship doesn’t automatically win the FedEx Cup as has been proven in previous seasons including last year's.
The current leader is Bryson DeChambeau, alias the Mad Scientist, a strange individual who has all of his clubs the same length, however this didn’t stop him winning the first two of the three qualifiers.
He holds a good lead over Justin Rose, Tony Finau, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas. If any of the top five win the Tour Championship they will also be FedEx Champion. If the winner is not in the first five they can only win the FedEx Cup with help from others.
So thats as clear as qualification from the UEFA Nations League!
So who will win? To be honest any of the 30 can win, but to win the putter must be hot.
Defending Tour Champion Xandr Schauffle will not give his crown up lightly. Justin Thomas has good course form (2nd last year) and is current FedEx Champion.
Of the British Contingent Justin Rose ,Rory McIlroy and Paul casey all have good course form too. And lets not forget Tiger Woods who has the best course form of all, albeit it was 10 years ago.
