LAST week our three selections all performed well with all three shooting 4 rounds in the 60’s but only Charles Howell finished in the top 10 by finishing 8th (a place paying position at Paddy Power), so small loss of 2 pts over the week.
This week the Tour returns to the mainland in California for a Pro Am with a field of 156 lining up.
In the past this has turned into a glorified putting competition and this year should be no exception. Played over 3 courses of the first three days all courses are Par 72 and all around 7,100 yards. The Stadium Course, technically the toughest, hosts the final round on Sunday.
Jon Rahm and Justin Rose head the betting but I think the value lies elsewhere in the shape of the following;
Charles Howell
CHARLES HOWELL was a pick last week and performed very well after a slow start to finish a respectable Tied 8th
He had all four rounds in the 60’s and but for a slow start would have been well inside the top 5. In good form, a good putter, and sure to go close.
Aaron Wise
AARON WISE has plenty to work on after his first start of the year in Hawaii, finishing 27th out of 33rd in the Tornament of Champions.
But he will appear fresh this week and will soon rediscover the excellent form he had in the latter part of 2018.
He's highly regarded as one of the most promising youngsters in the world, has the putting ability to go low and has course knowledge having played twice around all the courses.
Adam Hadwin
ADAM HADWIN has excellent form in this event, finishing in the Top 6 in the last three years.
He showed solid form towards the back end of last year and is keen to add to his 2017 win at Valspar. He should be thereabouts again this week.
AS normal 1 pt each way on each and 1 pt top 10 finish. Paddy Power paying 8 places.
Recommendations
- Howell 20/1 Paddy Power
- Top 10 5/2 Paddy Power
- Wise 25/1 Betfair
- Top 10 7/2 Paddy Power
- Hadwin 25/1 Paddy Power
- TOP 10 3/1 Paddy Power
Last week I was quite impressed by Chez Reavie. He hit four sub-70 rounds finishing T3, and included in there were three eagle 2s in the second round. Quite a feat and well worth a look this week.
Just watched those eagles – all from approach shots at par fours. Unreal.
No tips from Ace anymore MR F? Had many places and winners from him in the past
He’s put up a comment today which was nice to see but he’s basically retired.
I’ll try to encourage him just to comment on players he’s betting on.
That would be great! happy retirement Ace!
Thanks gm 1998. Unfortunately retirement hasn’t helped my golf any. Hope you are sucessful this week.
