It’s the DP World Tours grand finale with this weeks DP World Tour Championship at the Earth Course, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The 50 field with no cut throughout will all be competing for a share of the $10M prize purse with the winner collecting the DP World Tour Championship title & a winners cheque for a cool $3M. Rory has already won the Race to Dubai.
Jon Rahm will be in attendance to defend the hat-trick landing title he won around here last year. His winning scorecard from 2022 read 264, -20.
The Earth Course will be playing 7,675 yards long this week, it’s a par 72 Desert track where power & scrambling will be the key to success.
The weather forecasts sunny & warm conditions throughout with the possibility of some showers on Friday. Breezes will peak at around 15mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 7am on Thursday morning.
So let’s move on with this weeks DP World Tour Championship betting selections.
Min Woo Lee 18/1 EW 1-8 places Boylesports
For my first a main pick in Dubai I’m going to suggest Min Woo Lee 18/1 EW 1-8 places Boylesports. The 25-year-old Aussie Kid hasn’t won for us on a couple of occasions this year so it’s about time he paid us back with another W. Last time out Min Woo Lee was T6th at the Zozo Championship & before that he won an event on the Asia Tour. He’s managed seven Top 10 finishes this year with T5th at The US Open sticking out but 18th at the USPGA Championship was also a good effort.
T12th at this event & venue in 2022 can be backed up with T16th in 2021 so he can negotiate his way well around this Earth Course. Min Woo Lee is ranked 8th on the DPWT for Driving Distance, 8th Stroke Average & 10th for Sand Saves. That’s all figures inside the Top 10 & it could all add up to a W in the desert for Min Woo Lee.
Vincent Norrman 40/1 PaddyPower 1-6 places
For my next selection I’m going to suggest Vincent Norrman 40/1 PaddyPower 1-6 places. The young 25-year-old Swede is all over my radar at the moment so I simply cannot rule him out for more success in the desert sunshine this weekend. As you all know we were on him just five tournaments back at 45/1 to win the Irish Open & since then he’s had another two Top 20 finishes which includes T15th last time out at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
He also scooped the Barbasol Championship a few weeks back in what’s been an amazing breakthrough year for this talented kid from Sweden but it could be about to get even better with another W at the DP World Tour’s main attraction.
Here’s hoping for even more Swede success.
Tyrell Hatton 14/1 EW PaddyPower
Tyrell Hatton 14/1 EW PaddyPower is one of the highest ranked players in this field, currently 12th best in the world & he could be ready to make up for all those mistakes when finishing runner up last time out at the BMW PGA Championship.
Yip that’s right, it’s been a while done we seen Tyrrell finish 2nd at Wentworth but with no less than ten finishes inside the Top 10 this year, it’s maybe about time he bagged his first W of the year this weekend in Dubai.
It’s fair to say it’s been another decent year for the 32yrs old Englishman even without a W.
Runner up at The Players Championship was probably his best effort in 2023 with 15th at the USPGA Championship being his best finish at a major.
Tyrrell Hatton can go one better than his 2nd AGAIN finish at this event & venue in 2022 & I just have a feeling he’ll come back firing on all cylinders after the lengthy lay off. He’s long overdue a win & it could be a case of its better late than never for Tyrrell Hatton when he gets his first win on the board for 2023.
