For gamblers, the game of golf offers countless opportunities to make fast gains when carefully predicted. Like other major sports like soccer, there are different golf tournaments, all of which provide bettors with many games to choose from.

In each tournament, wagers can be placed on which player is predicted to win the entire event or on a particular player and how the player competes against other golfers. Bettors can even wager on which golfer they think will score lower or on what position they think their selected golfers will finish.

Gamblers that are fresh in the game should take time out to study the many golf tournaments they can bet on to place wiser wagers. These are the major golf tournaments gamblers can earn big from on the best golf gambling sites.

The Masters

One of the biggest golf tournaments in the world is the Master's tournament (or the US Masters), a professional golf competition held at one of the largest golf courses ever- Augusta National Golf Course, Georgia. The Master's tournament, which begins in the second week of April, officially opens the golf season every year, making it one of the most anticipated golf competitions globally.

This season, fans and gamblers all witnessed how professional golfer Scottie Schaffler competed against other players and emerged as the 2022 Masters champion joining the league of the greats who claimed the title before him. Legends like Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Arnold Palmer, who have competed and claimed the championship title multiple times, have shaped the Masters and contributed to the stiff completion the tournament is known for.

Each year, the golfer that emerges on top is awarded the green jacket, a tradition that has been passed on for years as a show of the champion's membership to the gulf club. This is accompanied by massive prize money; winners have their names permanently engraved on the Master's Trophy so their legacy can live on. With the extremely attractive awards, professional gulf players from all over the world who have been invited to compete have much to look forward to.

PGA Championship

After the Master's tournament, professional golfers get another opportunity to compete in the annual PGA Championship. PGA Championship (or the USPGA) dates back to 1916 and has always been regulated by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. However, unlike the Masters, the PGA is not restricted to a permanent golf course; the location for the championship has changed over the years. This year, the PGA tournament took place at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa for the fifth time in PGA history, and another location has been selected for the future golf season.

Over the years, top-notch players like Tiger Woods, Tom Lehman, and Jack Nicklaus have featured in the PGA and have equally won the championship multiple times. Winners are given a championship trophy and prize money going as high as $2 million, making the tournament one of the highest-paying golf competitions in the world.

PGA is probably the easiest for golfers to play on the list of major golf tournaments.

US Open Championship

The US Open is the tournament with the most funding among the four major leagues. The US Open begins in June, making it the third major golf competition of the season. It is another opportunity for gamblers to make fast gains from the championship game and the many competing professional golfers.

Golfers in this tournament are introduced to more complicated courses than the two other tournaments that precede the US Open. Points are measured using the stroke play scoring system, and the course has 72 holes, and the player that makes the least amount of strokes emerges as the tournament's champion.   This is why the tournament is very competitive and exciting for fans to watch and for gamblers to make bids on.

Like the other leagues, the US Open is packed with talented golfers from around the world, and each season, fans get to follow the exciting game.

Open Championship

It is only fitting that the biggest gulf tournament of the year comes last. The Open Championship is the only competition among the four major tournaments that do not take place on American soil but in Scotland, currently the Old course at St. Andrews, the oldest golf course in the world.

The fact that the game is being played on a links golf course makes the Open Championship even more challenging than the other tournaments. Players have to rely on low strikes because of the open field and unreliable windy conditions of the course.

Not only is the Open Championship the oldest golf competition, but it is also seen as the most prominent tournament. The “open” suggests that the competition is open to players from around the world who have been qualified or invited to compete, whether amateur or professional. Golfers all vie each season for the position of the Champion Golfer of the Year title, one of the biggest achievements in a golfer's career. The prize money accompanies this, entry to future Open championship games till the age of 60, entry to the five following Masters Tournament, PGA Championship, and US Open games, and other opportunities.

Some other common golf tournaments are largely recognized.

Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is a male golf tournament that holds every two years. Teams from the United States and Europe compete at courses constantly shifting from the US to Europe. Despite being a huge tournament, winning teams do not receive prize money as in other big tournaments.

The Players Championship

Despite not being a major tournament, many top-tier golfers compete in the Players yearly. The Players broke the record for having the highest purse in golf history when about $20 million was pooled for the tournament.
