THE BMW PGA Championship returns to the Wentworth West Course which has had numerous changes since last year.
Every green has been has been stripped of its turf and reseeded giving them a purer putting surface. Twenty nine bunkers have been removed and the rest have all been redesigned and restructured.
With the work done to the greens, putting could be important and GIR could also be a good stat to follow.
Belgian Thomas Pieters has had a good start on the PGA Tour this year with three top fives from eight tournaments. He has been impressive in the past year and a T4 at Augusta, which followed a T5 at the WGC-Mexico Championship, proved how good he is.
He reminds me a lot of Spaniard Jon Rahm, both hit longs balls and are not averse to taking on hazardous pin placements. I like Pieters a lot and think he is worth a bet. GIR: 70.4% (73rd) Putting Average: 29.8 (98th)
Byeong Hun-An looks a great bet for Wentworth this week. The 2015 BMW winner has had an-up-and-down season on the PGA Tour but recently his form seems to have returned. A T8 at the Wells Fargo was followed up by four sub-70 rounds at the AT&T to finish T5. His stats look favourable for here, especially putting, and as I said he did win in 2015. So taking that into consideration he must be in with a very good shout. GIR: 72.20 (53rd) Putting Average: 27.5 (4th)
