FOR the 10th consecutive season the TPC Louisiana hosts the Zurich where last year’s winner Justin Rose returns with Jason Day and Rickie Fowler.
These three are the main names in the field but although they are top of the betting lists I think someone at a bigger price could win here.
As six of the last 10 champions have been first-time winners on the PGA Tour I’m looking at the rookies and guys going for their first win or who haven’t won for a while.
Patton Kizzire is still looking for his first title on Tour although he was beaten into T2 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children, his first tournament, by his pal Smylie Kaufman. Since then he has four top-10 finishes and after missing the cut at the Shell Open came back at the RBC Heritage to finish T14. His GIR stat is 64.86 with strokes gained:putting of .745 (8th on tour) and putting from inside 10ft on 89.94% (17th). Paddy Power are offering seven places so definitely one to look at.
The aforementioned Kaufman is another who in my opinion has a great chance here. He had a great Masters (T29) where he was one shot off the 54-hole lead. He sits 11th in the FedEx standings and has had three top-10 finishes this season. His GIR stat is 68.38% (37th) and putting from 9ft is 61.54% (16th) which will be important on this Pete Dye-designed course. With the win at the Shriners under his belt he’s not going to be afraid to finish the job if he’s there or thereabouts on Sunday.
