THE first European Tour event of the year starts this week on Wednesday as they head to the United Arab Emirates for the Abu Dhabi Championship. The course is a Par 72 of just over 7,500 yards, and a field of 132 line up.
The course has been toughened up since last year but scores in excess of 20 under par will be a winning score.
Tommy Fleetwood won here last year with 22 under and is the defending champion. Obviously a hot putter is required but length of the tee is more important on this course so big hitters will be to the fore.
This weeks selections are
Thomas Pieters
THOMAS PIETERS, a good second half of the season in 2018 resulted in victory in the World Cup at the end of November,
A good accurate driver has good course form in this event with 3 top 5 finishes in the last 4 years. Looks set to have a good 2019 and can start with a good performance this week.
Thorbjorn Olesen
THORBJORN OLESEN, one of the Ryder Cup stars with confidence still on a high after thrashing Jordan Spieth 5 & 4 in Paris. Olsen loves the Middles East with several top 10 finishes since his debut there in 2012. Will love the course and will be thereabout come Sunday evening.
Lucas Bjerregaards
LUCAS BJERREGAARD, Lucas is a favourite of mine with a big future in the game. Had a goods second half to the season saw him rise to inside the top 50 in the world which opens up more better competitions for him.
A solid putter he will be well suited to the conditions this week.
Staking plan as normal 1 pt ew and 1 pt for a Top 10 finish
Once again Palmer goes for olesen and Pieter’s , so does Trev , give the readers something different Trev
I must agree with you thats why I try to post on a Tuesday before any other tipster so I cant be accused of copying them.
