Tomorrow marks the start of tennis at the Olympics, with some brilliant round one matchups coming our way over the weekend. For now, however, there are a trio of ATP 250 tournaments unfolding in Umag, Kitzbuhel and Atlanta. We’ve broken down the latest odds from bookmaker Betfred and have the best bets to make on today’s action.
Best Tennis Tips and Predictions Today
Based on the latest tennis odds, here are the bets we're recommend you wager on this Friday:
Berrettini to Win First Set 7-6 vs Hanfmann @ 5/1
Matteo Berrettini has roared back into form over the last three months, racing his way to No. 46 in the world off the back of a strong run on clay and grass. With the Italian through to the semi-finals of the Generali Open in Austria, he now has a shot of returning to the world’s top 40 if he wins the title.
While we don’t think Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann will stop Berrettini on Friday, we do recommend betting on the first set to go his way in a tiebreak.
In the past five weeks, eight of Berrettini’s 12 matches have gone to first set tiebreaks. And he’s won all eight of them. This week alone, five of his six sets have been breakers, including all of the opening sets, with the 28-year-old maintaining a 100 percent record.
Berrettini has now won 16 tiebreaks in a row, dating back to the first week of April in Marrakech. With odds of 5/1 for him to win another in the first set against Hanfmann, this is a brilliant punt.
Rublev to Defeat Cerundolo @ 4/6
Over in Umag, Andrey Rublev is rekindling some much needed form. The Russian, who is usually a model of consistency on the ATP Tour, had lost four in a row coming into the Croatian tournament. However, he’s seen off Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Fabian Marozsan in consecutive matches this week, and looks to have righted some of the mental issues that have beleaguered him in 2024.
Up against Francisco Cerundolo, this could well be a hard-fought semi-final, but we’re picking Rublev to get across the line. He’s very much a momentum player, and that momentum seems to have finally swung back his way this tournament.
