Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the German Bundesliga, and I’m keen to get on one of the division's most in-form sides.

⚽️ Werder Bremen vs Wolfsburg

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Saturday 28th January, 14:30

Two clubs in contrasting form in the German Bundesliga meet at the Weserstadion on Saturday afternoon as struggling Werder Bremen plays host to in-form Wolfsburg.

After a solid start in their return to the Bundesliga this season in which they collected 15 points from their opening nine matches (W4-D3-L2), Bremen head into this fixture in dismal form, losing six of their previous eight league matches – with both wins in that run coming at home to the bottom two sides in the division. Before their 1-2 defeat at home to Union Berlin in midweek, Die Grün-Weißen were mauled 7-1 away at FC Köln, and the last thing they need is a visit from one of the Bundesliga’s form sides.

After losing four of his opening seven games in charge of Wolfsburg – collecting just five points – Niko Kovač has more than turned things around at Wolfsburg, as his side enters this encounter on a 10-match unbeaten run in the Bundesliga to climb them up into seventh in the table, just four points behind second-placed Union Berlin. After winning each of their previous four Bundesliga matches before Christmas, The Wolves returned from the Winter Break thrashing sixth-placed Freiburg 6-0 before smashing Hertha Berlin 0-5 in their own backyard.

Bet of the Day

After scoring just five goals across their opening seven league matches, Wolfsburg have gone on to bag an eye-catching 30 goals across their next 10 Bundesliga fixtures. The Wolves have scored on multiple occasions in each of their last eight league outings, and I fancy them to bag another double away to a Bremen defence that has kept just two clean sheets this season and who possesses the division's third-worst defence conceding 36 goals – with 17 of those coming across their previous four matches.

  • Wolfsburg to Score 2+
  • Pays 1/1 (Paddy Power/William Hill)
