Euro 2024 Bet of the day

After beginning the month of June with three successive winners thanks to Wednesday’s winner in Finland, The Football Bet of the Day returns on Friday, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in the Irish top tier.

⚽️ Waterford FC vs Sligo Rovers

🇮🇪 Premier Division

⏰ Friday 7th June, 19:45

Two clubs separated only by three points in the Irish Premier Division table meet at the Waterford Regional Sports Centre as 4th-placed Waterford plays host to 6th-placed Sligo Rovers in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Keith Long’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Irish Premier Division, slamming in 26 goals across their opening 19 matches, with 15 (58%) of them coming on home soil.

The Blues have found the back of the net in 6/9 (67%) of their league contests in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in each of their last three – and will look to continue their recent improvement in front of goal at home against a Sligo defence that has recorded a solitary shutout across their previous six road trips, shipping multiple goals in four (67%) of them.

John Russell’s visitors have scored 20 goals across their opening 19 fixtures in the Irish top flight this term, with 13 (65%) of them coming on their travels.

The Bit O'Red have found the back of the net in 6/9 (67%) of their road trips – scoring on multiple occasions in four (44%) of them, including in each of their last two – and will look to trouble a Waterford defence that has only kept four clean sheets in the league this season, with just one of those coming on home soil.

Bet of the Day

Waterford’s opening nine Irish Premier Division fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign are averaging 2.89 goals per game, with seven (78%) of them featuring at least two goals, with five (56%) of them producing more than three goals, including each of their previous three.

Sligo’s opening nine Irish Premier Division fixtures on their travels this season are averaging a league-high 3.00 goals per game, with seven (78%) of them seeing Over 1.5 Goals and Over 2.5 Goals payout.

Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 2.25 Asian goal line. This would mean if there are exactly two goals scored, we will lose just half of our stake, whilst three or more strikes will reward a full payout.

  • Over 2.25 Asian Goal Line
  • Pays 9/10 (Unibet)
