After a red card after 10 minutes effectively ruined Sunday’s selection in Norway, Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Icelandic top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

In what is arguably the biggest derby in Iceland, Valur welcome KR to the Hlíðarendi on Monday evening in what promises to be a high-scoring affair.
Srdjan Tufegdzic’s hosts are the joint second-highest scorers in the Icelandic top flight this term, slamming in 24 goals across their opening 11 matches, with 16 (67%) of them coming on home soil.
The Valsarar have failed to score in just one of their league contests this season, notching on multiple occasions in seven (7”64%) of them – including in four of their past five on home soil – and will be confident of breaching a KR defence that’s kept just one clean sheet and shipped 2+ goals in 8/11 (75%) of their league clashes, including in all six (100%) away from home.
Oskar Hrafn Thorvaldsson’s visitors are the leading scorers in the Icelandic top flight, firing in an incredible 30 goals across their opening 11 matches, with 14 (47%) of them coming on their travels.
The record Icelandic champions have slammed in 2+ goals in all 11 (100%) of their league outings this season – even firing in 3+ in six (56%) of them – and will be confident of troubling a Valur defence that’s kept just two clean sheets in the league this season.
Bet of the Day
KR’s opening 11 matches in the Icelandic top flight have averaged a staggering 5.09 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals landing in 10 (91%) of them, whilst 10 (91%) of them also saw goals at both ends.
Their six away matches have finished 3-2, 4-2, 4-3, 3-2, 2-2 & 2-2, with Both Teams to Score & Over 3.5 Goals being a winning selection in all four (100%) of them, and that’s the way I’m keen to approach this one too.
Valur’s numbers aren’t quite as high as their rivals, but they are still averaging 3.64 goals per game, with eight (73%) having produced goals at both ends – including in 5/6 (83%) at home.
What’s more, this fixture tends to produce goals, with the last eight meetings averaging a whopping 5.25 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals landing in seven (88%) of them, whilst five of the last six have seen both teams oblige – including a 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture back in April.
