After frustratingly falling a goal short at Dundee on Wednesday, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to La Liga, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs jostling for European places in La Liga meet at Vallecas on Thursday night as eighth-placed Rayo hosts sixth-placed Real Betis in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Inogo Perez’s hosts have scored 37 goals across their opening 35 matches in La Liga this season, with 22 (59%) of them coming on home soil.
Los Franjirrojos have found the back of the net in all bar two of their league contests on home soil – notching on multiple occasions in 5/17 (29%) of them – and will aim to breach a Betis backline that has kept just one clean sheet across their last 12 matches in all competitions and none in their past eight in La Liga.
Manuel Pellegrini’s visitors have fired in 46 goals across their previous 22 matches in all competitions, with 23 (50%) of those coming away from home.
Los Verdiblancos have only failed to score in just one of their previous 25 matches in all competitions – notching on multiple occasions in 16 of their last 22 – and will be confident of breaching a Rayo defence that has kept just three clean sheets at home all season.

Rayo’s opening 17 La Liga contests on home soil have averaged 2.71 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in nine (53%) of them, including in seven of their last 12.
Real Betis’s previous 22 matches in all competitions have averaged 3.18 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in an impressive 16 (73%) of them – including eight of their past 10 away from home – and I’m expecting the goals to flow in Vallecas this evening.
