Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Europa League match at Old Trafford, and I fancy the hosts to maintain their incredible scoring form at home.

⚽️ Manchester United vs Barcelona

🇪🇺 Europa League

⏰ Thursday 23rd February, 20:00

A week on from their thrilling 2-2 draw in Catalonia, Manchester United and Barcelona do battle at Old Trafford on Thursday evening in a bid to reach the last-16 of the Europa League.

Manchester United went within five points of league leaders Arsenal at the weekend, as they defeated Leicester City 3-0 at home. Erik ten Hag has turned Old Trafford into a fortress again, with United unbeaten in each of their last 17 matches in all competitions in front of their supporters, winning 15 of them. The Red Devils have found the back of the net in each of their previous 15 matches at Old Trafford in all competitions, scoring 38 goals.

Barcelona maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the La Liga table at the weekend, as a couple of quick-fire goals on the stroke of halftime were enough to see off lowly Cádiz. Xavi’s visitors have won 10 of their 11 La Liga fixtures on the road this season, however, that defeat did come against rivals Real Madrid. Those goals conceded at the Bernabéu in the middle of October are three of only seven Barça have let in in La Liga this season.

Bet of the Day

Despite their current dominance in La Liga this season, Barcelona have toiled in Europe, winning just two of their seven ties (W2-D2-L3), with both of those victories coming against Czech side Viktoria Plzeň. Barça are also yet to register a clean sheet in Europe this season, conceding double the amount than they have in La Liga.

Not only has Manchester United found the back of the net in each of their previous 15 matches at Old Trafford in all competitions, but The Red Devils have also scored on multiple occasions in 14 of those, and I fancy them to score at least twice against a Barça defence that has struggled in Europe this season.

  • Manchester United to Score 2+
