Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on both the Premier League and Serie A. I’ve picked a selection from each league in which I fancy goals in to give us a nicely priced double.

Leicester City vs Manchester United

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League

⏰ Saturday 16th October, 15:00

Leicester host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium in a meeting between last years 2nd and 5th placed sides. The visitors United come into this in 4th position on 14 points. The hosts however, sit in 13th and six points off their opponents.

Leicester’s start to the season can be pretty much summed up in their last fixture as they raced into a two goal lead only to draw 2-2 at Palace. That’s now four games without a win for Leicester, with them only having two wins to their name so far. Defensively, Leicester have been poor this season, keeping only a solitary clean sheet, which came on the first game of the season at home to Wolves, with the Foxes already conceding 12 times. They have still been scoring goals though, scoring nine times, with only Manchester City keeping them out.

Man United come into this winless in their last two fixtures, collecting only a single point in home games against Aston Villa and Everton. A problem for United so far this season is not being able to keep clean sheets, as they’ve only kept one in their first seven matches, which also came against Wolves. The Red Devils do have plenty of attacking quality though and have already found the back of the net 14 times this season, only failing to score once at home to Aston Villa in a match they missed a penalty.

Lazio vs Inter Milan

🇮🇹 Serie A

⏰ Saturday 16th October, 17:00

Lazio host defending champions Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A’s game of the day. The Biancocelesti currently sit in 6th position, six points behind their opponents who currently occupy 3rd spot.

It’s been a mixed start to the season for new Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri, with the former Chelsea boss seeing his side collect 11 points from their first seven outings. Lazio were disappointing in a 3-0 defeat away to Bologna last time out, highlighting how vulnerable they are defensively. Lazio have already conceded 12 goals, failing to keep a single clean sheet. They do score goals Lazio, particularly at home where they’ve scored 11 goals in their first three matches. Lazio are actually unbeaten in their last 16 Serie A home matches, scoring in 15/16.

For the third time this season, Inter came from a goal down to collect all three points as they defeated Sassuolo 1-2 last time out. Inter remain unbeaten in Serie A this season, which is largely due to the amount of goals they score. They are the leagues top goalscorer’s with 22 so far this season, netting at least twice in all seven matches. Since a 4-0 home win over Genoa to open their Serie A campaign, Inter have conceded in each of their last six games, including in all four of their away matches.

Bet of the Day

Both Brendan Rodgers and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be disappointed with their starts in the league this season and with how they are defending. Clean sheets have been hard to come by for both and with the attacking quality each side possess, I don’t see either side keeping one here, especially with both sides being without key defensive personnel. We could be in for an entertaining clash in Rome as Simone Inzaghi returns to the Stadio Olimpico. Both sides have been scoring for fun this season and it’s easy to see why with the likes of Ciro Immobile and Lautaro Martinez representing both sides. Lazio and Inter haven’t been tight at the back and have collected just one clean sheet between them this season. Goals should be a certainty here with both sides contributing.
