Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Conference League qualifiers, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

A week on from their 1-1 draw in Switzerland, Besiktas welcome Lausanne Sports to Istanbul in the second leg of their Conference League playoff tie in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Following on from their fourth-placed finish in the Turkish Super Lig last season, Besiktas entered the second round of qualifying in the Europa League, but were well-beaten by Shakhtar Donetsk, losing 2-6 on aggregate to the Ukrainians, dropping them down to the Conference League
Despite a mini-scare, ex-Manchester United player and manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, would see his side prevail 7-3 on aggregate against Irish side St Patrick’s Athletic in the previous round.
It looked like the Black Eagles were going to take a lead back home to the Turkish capital in the first leg of this tie, but an 83rd-minute equaliser from Bryan Okoh for Lausanne Sports means it’s all to play for on Thursday night.
Peter Zeidler’s visitors have already defeated FK Vardar of North Macedonia 6-2 on aggregate – despite losing the away leg 2-1 – and Astana of Kazakhstan, winning both legs (3-1 & 0-2).

Lausanne’s opening nine competitive contests this season have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with seven (78%) of them seeing goals at both ends, whilst seven (78%) have also gone Over 2.5 Goals.
Besiktas’s previous 15 fixtures in Europe have averaged a whopping 3.80 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in 11 (73%) of them, whilst Over 2.5 Goals has also paid out in 11 (73%) of them.
What’s more, the last seven continental clashes at their Istanbul base have averaged a staggering 4.71 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals paying out in all seven (100%) of them (5-1, 1-3, 2-1, 1-3, 4-1, 2-4 & 3-2) – and I’m backing that trend to continue in the Turkish capital on Thursday night.
