Today’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the MLS card in the early hours. I’ve picked out two games which look good for goals and should see both sides scoring.
Chicago Fire vs New York City
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Thursday 5th August, 01:00
Chicago Fire host New York City at Soldier Field in an all Eastern Conference meeting. The hosts sit in 13th and nine points outside the play offs. New York City meanwhile sit in 4th, five points clear of DC United in 8th.
Chicago come into this after securing a 1-1 draw away to Philadelphia Union despite playing an hour with 10 men. That now extends their run of scoring in seven consecutive matches. At home, Chicago have scored in their last five matches scoring 12 times. Clean sheets remain an issue though, keeping only two all season. Only Inter Miami (18) have conceded more goals at home this season than Chicago (14).
New York City come into this off the back of three successive victories, all in which came at Yankee Stadium. New York City are the only side in MLS to score in every single game they’ve played this season. Only New England Revolution (33) have scored more than New York City (30). However, New York City have lost their last two away games and have only kept a solitary clean sheet in their six away games in which they’ve conceded 8 times.
Los Angeles FC vs Sporting Kansas City
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Thursday 5th August, 03:30
LAFC host Sporting KC at the Banc of California Stadium in an all Western Conference meeting. The hosts sit in 5th position, four points above the Portland Timbers in 8th. The visitors sit in 2nd, two points behind the Seattle Sounders but do have a game in hand.
LAFC come into this off the back of consecutive 2-2 draws, both of which came at home. LAFC have only failed to score once all season, scoring in their last 11 games. LAFC have scored in all nine of their home games, scoring a total of 15. The LA side have conceded in seven of those games, only keeping clean sheets against lowly Dallas and Austin.
Sporting KC come into this suffering a shock 1-2 home defeat to a Dallas side who had been pointless on their travels last time out. Sporting KC subsequently downed my ‘Bet of the Day’ by failing to grab a second goal, but did keep up their record of scoring in all bar one of their games this season. Sporting KC have scored 12 goals in their seven away games, only New England Revolution average more per away game (1.90) than KC (1.71). Clean sheets remain an issue though, keeping only two all season.
Bet of the Day
Chicago have improved offensively in the last few weeks and have been scoring plenty at Soldier Field in recent weeks. NYC have scored in every game so far this season and W this should lead us to both sides scoring. Both LAFC and Sporting KC have scored in a combined 30/32 games this season and with neither team keeping too many clean sheets, we should see both sides net.
