Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the Turkish Süper Lig and the Italian Serie A and I’ve picked out a match from each league in which I like the look of for goals at both ends.
Beşiktaş vs Konyaspor
🇹🇷 Süper Lig
⏰ Saturday 21st May, 17:00
Konyaspor travel to Vodafone Park to take on Beşiktaş, already having qualified for European football for next season. The visitors are third, three points behind second-placed Fenerbahçe, whilst the hosts are seventh and can no longer qualify for European football.
Beşiktaş won 0-2 away at already-relegated Göztepe last time out to make it back-to-back wins away from home. Valérien Ismael’s hosts have now lost just two of their last 18 in the Turkish Süper Lig, but nine of those matches in that run have ended in draws (W7-D9-L2). Beşiktaş have found the back of the net in 15/18 of their home fixtures this season, finding the back of the net on 31 occasions. After keeping clean sheets in their opening four fixtures of the season, The Black Eagles have since gone on to record just a further six in their last 33 league fixtures, conceding in each of their last five at home.
Following back-to-back defeats, Konyaspor got back to winning ways last time out, as they defeated Hatayspor 3-1 at home. Ilhan Palut’s visitors have drawn just one of their last 22 Turkish Süper Lig fixtures, winning 13 and losing the other eight. Konyaspor have found the back of the net in 33/37 of their league fixtures this season, including in each of their last 17 and are the league’s fourth-highest scorers, finding the back of the net 65 times. The Anatolian Eagle have kept just four of their 13 overall clean sheets away from home this season, conceding just under twice as many goals on their travels (15 at home, 29 away).
Lazio vs Hellas Verona
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Saturday 21st May, 19:45
Following Roma’s win away to Torino last night, Lazio require a point to finish in fifth, above their city-rivals. They host a Hellas Verona side in ninth, who are hopeful for a top-half finish.
Lazio came from two goals down last time out, to seal a 2-2 draw away to Juventus last time out. Following their 3-0 defeat against their bitter-rivals Roma in March, Maurizio Sarri’s side have gone on to win four of their last seven, with their sole defeat coming in stoppage-time against leaders Milan. Lazio have found the back of the net in 16/18 of their fixtures at the Olimpico, scoring 39 times, with only only last years Scudetto winners Inter having scored more (45). The Biancocelesti have recorded just nine shut-outs in Serie A this season, conceding 55 times, more than any of the top-eight sides.
Hellas lost for the second consecutive match last time out, as former coach Ivan Jurić saw his Torino side leave the Bentegodi with a 0-1 victory. However, Igor Tudor’s side have lost just one of their last six away (against Inter), winning each of their last two against both Cagliari and Atalanta. Hellas have found the back of the net in 31/37 of their Serie A fixtures this season, scoring on 62 occasions. The Gialloblu have only managed four clean sheets in the league this season and are the only side in Serie A yet to keep a clean sheet away from home all season.
Bet of the Day
Third-placed Konyaspor will want to finish their incredible season on a high, as they travel to last years champions Beşiktaş. The visitors have scored in 33/37 of their league fixtures this season, including in each of their last 17 and they should score once more against a Beşiktaş side with just six clean sheets in their last 33 in the league. The Black Eagles have only failed to score three times at home this season and given Ilhan Palut’s visitors have kept just four clean sheets away from home this season, we should see both get on the scoresheet in Istanbul here.
Lazio require just a point to confirm fifth-spot above city-rivals Roma, but face a tough test against high-scoring Hellas Verona. Igor Tudor’s visitors have scored in 31/37 of their Serie A fixtures this season and I can them scoring against a Lazio side with just one clean sheet in their last eight. However, The Gialloblu are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home this season and given Maurizio Sarri’s side are the league’s second-highest scorers, I reckon we’ll see goals at the Olimpico with both sides contributing.
