Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me remain in MLS, and I’ve highlighted another goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Chicago Fire vs San Diego FC
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Sunday 13 July, 01:30
San Diego will look to maintain their position at the top of the Western Conference table in the early hours of Sunday morning as they travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Fire in a fixture that I’m keen to back the hosts to strike at least twice.
June proved to be a terrific month for San Diego, as they followed up their 2-0 win at home to Austin FC by winning three successive away games at Minnesota United (1-4), Vancouver Whitecaps (3-5) and FC Dallas (2-3).
However, they lost their opening match in July, as they’ve lost 3-4 at home to the Houston Dynamo despite leading 3-2 in the 85th minute, to down last Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day.
Nevertheless, that was only SDFC’s second defeat across their past 11 MLS matches (W8-D1-L2), and they travel to Soldier Field having won each of their last three and four of their previous five on the road.
The Fire suffered their third defeat from their past four matches in MLS last weekend, as they lost 2-1 away at Eastern Conference leaders FC Cincinnati.
Gregg Berhalter’s hosts did win their last home match 3-2 against Charlotte FC, but that was only their second victory at Soldier Field this campaign, losing three of their past six (W2-D1-L3).
Bet of the Day
I successfully backed San Diego to strike at least twice in their last away match at FC Dallas a fortnight ago, and I see no reason to change my approach here.
Mikey Varas’s visitors are the highest scorers across the entire MLS, firing in 44 goals across their opening 21 matches, with 22 (50%) of them coming on their travels.
SDFC have scored 2+ goals in 14 (67%) of their MLS contests this season, including in nine of their last 11 and 12 of their past 16 – as well as in 7/10 (70%) of their road trips – and I’m backing their in-form attack to bag another double away to a Fire defence that has kept just two clean sheets and conceded 36 goals in the MLS this term, shipping 2+ goals in three of their last four.
- San Diego FC to Score Over 1.5 Goals
- Pays 9/10 (Unibet)
