Following back-to-back high-scoring winners in Norway and Holland, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the full card in MLS in the early hours of Thursday morning, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.
⚽️ Philadelphia Union vs Toronto FC
?? MLS
⏰ Thursday 30th May, 00:30
Two clubs separated by only two places in the Eastern Conference table meet at Subaru Park in the early hours of Sunday morning as 8th-placed Philadelphia Union play host to 6th-placed Toronto in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Jim Curtin’s hosts have scored 25 goals across their opening 14 MLS fixtures this term, with 10 (40%) of them coming across their six home matches.
The Union have found the back of the net in all bar one of their opening 14 MLS outings – scoring on multiple occasions in 10 (71%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Toronto defence that is without a clean sheet across their previous five MLS encounters on their travels, shipping multiple goals in four (80%) of them.
John Herdman’s visitors have scored 24 goals across their opening 15 MLS fixtures this campaign, with 15 (63%) of them coming across their last six.
The Reds have found the back of the net in all bar two of their previous 14 MLS encounters – scoring on multiple occasions in six of their last eight – and will look to trouble a Union defence that has shipped a minimum of two goals in 5/6 (83%) of their MLS contests as hosts.
Bet of the Day
The Union’s opening 14 MLS fixtures this term are averaging an eye-catching 3.29 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 11 (79%) of them and seven (50%) of them producing four or more strikes.
After seeing just seven goals scored across their opening five MLS matches of the campaign, Toronto’s next 10 have been full of goals, averaging a remarkable 4.10 goals per game, with eight (80%) of those seeing Over 2.5 Goals land and seven (70%) featuring four or more.
Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 3.0 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive our stake back, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.
