Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the Premier League and League One and I like the look of two sides at home to record comfortable victories
Sheffield Wednesday vs Crewe Alexandra
??????? League One
⏰ Tuesday 19th April, 19:45
Sheffield Wednesday will look to climb into the League One playoff places, as they host already-relegated Crewe at Hillsborough. The hosts are currently just a point behind both fifth-placed Wycombe and sixth-placed Sunderland, while the visitors are bottom.
Sheffield Wednesday extended their unbeaten run to seven matches last time out following their impressive 2-3 win away to promotion-chasing MK Dons. Darren Moore’s side come into this having won nine of their last 11 fixtures at Hillsborough, including six of their last seven. No side has collected more points at home in League One this season than Sheffield Wednesday, with The Owls earning 47 points from a possible 63 (W14-D5-L2). Sheffield Wednesday have found the back of the net 20 times in their last six league matches at home, scoring two or more in five of them.
Crewe put an end to their eight-match losing streak last time out, as they won 3-1 at home to relegation-threatened AFC Wimbledon. No side has collected fewer points on their travels than Crewe, with The Railwaymen collecting just nine points from a possible 63 (W2-D3-L16). Crewe come into this having lost 13 of their last 15 matches on their travels, including each of their last three. Crewe have the third-worst defensive record in League One, with only Morecambe (85) and Doncaster (81) conceding more goals than the 79 The Alex have conceded.
Liverpool vs Manchester United
??????? Premier League
⏰ Tuesday 19th April, 20:00
Liverpool will look to go top of the Premier League, at least temporarily, as they host rivals Manchester United at Anfield. The hosts are currently behind league leaders Manchester City only on goal difference, whilst the visitors are sixth, three points behind fourth-placed Spurs.
After securing their place in the semi-final of the Champions League with a 6-4 aggregate win over Portuguese giants Benfica, Liverpool then defeated Manchester City 3-2 to reach the FA Cup final. Prior to their 2-2 draw in their last Premier League match away to champions Manchester City, Jürgen Klopp’s side had won each of their previous 10 league matches. Liverpool have dropped just six points at Anfield this season and come into this having won each of their last 10 at home in the league. Liverpool are the highest scoring side in the Premier League (79), scoring on multiple occasions in 25 of their 31 Premier League fixtures.
Despite throwing away a two-goal lead, Manchester United managed to collect all three points last time out, as they won 3-2 at home to bottom side Norwich. That win was just United’s second victory in their last six matches in the Premier League (W2-D2-L2), with them losing each of their last two on their travels. As well as losing each of their last two away, The Red Devils have won just three of their last nine on their travels, with all three wins coming against bottom half sides. Ralf Rangnick’s side have kept just seven clean sheets in their opening 32 Premier League matches this season and have conceded 12 goals in their last seven fixtures.
Bet of the Day
Not only do Sheffield Wednesday come into this unbeaten in their last seven but they have won nine of their last 11 at home and should collect another three points at home to a Crewe side that’s already relegated and who have the worst away record in League One. The Owls have banged in 20 goals in their last six fixtures at Hillsborough and I’m happy to back them to score at least twice against the side with the third-worst defensive record, alongside a home win.
Liverpool are arguably the form side in Europe at the moment and I expect them to inflict a third straight away loss to rivals Manchester United. The Reds have found the back of the net on multiple occasions in 25/31 of their Premier League fixtures this season and I’m to back them to score at least twice in victory against a defensively vulnerable United side that’s kept just seven clean sheets in the league this season.
