Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Norwegian second-tier and I’ve picked out two sides that I like the look of to score at least twice.
Start vs Raufoss
🇳🇴 OBOS-ligaen
⏰ Thursday 26th May, 17:00
Start will look to keep pace with the top two, as they host Raufoss at the Sør Arena. The hosts are three points off second-placed Brann, while the visitors are in 11th, just three points above the relegation zone.
Start threw away a two-goal lead late on last time out, as they drew 2-2 away to Ranheim. Prior to that draw, Sindre Tjelmeland’s side had won each of their last three in the league, including their last two at home. Only Brann (20) have scored more goals in the Norwegian second-tier than Start (19), with 13 of them coming in their last four matches. Start have found the back of the net on multiple occasions in 5/7 of their league fixtures this season, including in each of their last four.
Raufoss conceded four goals for the second successive match, as they lost 0-4 at home to fourth-placed Stabæk. Christian Johnsen’s side have won just one of their opening seven league fixtures this season (W1-D3-L3), with that win coming at home to third-bottom Bryne. That 2-0 win over Bryne is Raufoss’s only clean sheet so far this season, with them conceding 13 goals in their other six fixtures, with eight of them coming in their last two.
Kongsvinger vs Brann
🇳🇴 OBOS-ligaen
⏰ Thursday 26th May, 17:00
Brann will look to keep the pressure on league leaders Mjøndalen, as they travel to the Giemselund Stadion to take on Kongsvinger. The visitors are five points off top-spot, but do have a game in hand, whilst the visitors are 10th, 10 points worse off than their upcoming opponents.
Kongsvinger lost for the fourth away match in succession last time out, as they succumb to an 89th minute goal away to KFUM. Eirik Maland’s side remain unbeaten at home this season, taking seven points from a possible nine. However, those seven points Kongsvinger have collected have all came against sides below them in the table, with the newly-promoted side losing all four matches against sides above them in the table. KIL solitary clean sheet this season came against second-bottom Skeid, with Kongsvinger conceding 10 times in their other six fixtures.
Brann won 3-0 for the second successive match last time out, as they followed up their win against fifth-placed Sandnes Ulf, by defeating sixth-placed Fredrikstad. Erik Horneland’s side remain unbeaten this season, having won five and drawn two of their opening seven matches, with both draws coming at home. Brann have found the back of the net in all seven of their fixtures this season and are the OBOS-ligaen top-scorers, finding the back of the net on 20 occasions, with 12 of those coming in their three games away from home.
Bet of the Day
Start’s three-match winning run was ended last time out as they threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 in Ranheim, but I expect them to bounce back at home to a Raufoss side that’s lost their last two, conceding four times in both. Start are the leagues second-highest scorers and given they’ve scored 13 in their last four, I’m happy to back them to score at least twice against this leaky Raufoss back line.
Brann come into this having won each of their last three and they should be too strong for newly-promoted Kongsvinger. Brann are the leagues top-scorers and given they’ve already scored 12 in their three away matches this season, I’m also happy to back them to score at least twice against a Kongsvinger side who’s only clean sheet so far this season has came against second-bottom Skeid.
