Friday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on both the Bundesliga and Ligue 1. I’ve picked a selection from each league to come up with a nicely priced double.
Hoffenheim vs Köln
🇩🇪 Bundesliga
⏰ Friday 15th October, 19:30
Hoffenheim host Köln at the PreZero Arena to kick off matchday 8 in the Bundesliga on Friday evening. The hosts currently sit in 11th on eight points, whereas the visitors lie in 6th on 12 points.
Last time out, Hoffenheim suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Stuttgart, to leave them only four points above the relegation zone. Hoffenheim have only won once since the opening game of the season, however that was in their last home match against Champions League participants Wolfsburg. Die Kraichgauer have scored in 5/7 fixtures this season, scoring on twelve occasions. They’ve also conceded in 5/7 games (including all three at home) conceding 11 times. The two sides Hoffenheim shut out so far this season are the leagues two lowest goalscorers, Augsburg and Arminia Bielefeld who’ve just scored just three times.
After three successive 1-1 draws, Köln defeated bottom side Greuther Fürth 3-1 at home. That win placed Köln 6th place in the table and just four points off Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen at the top. Their only defeat in the Bundesliga this season came away to the champions where they were only narrowly defeated 3-2. Remarkably, both sides have notched in all seven of the Billy Goats Bundesliga fixtures this season. They’ve scored 13 goals themselves, whilst conceding on nine occasions.
PSG vs Angers
🇫🇷 Ligue 1
⏰ Friday 15th October, 20:00
PSG host Angers on Friday evening to kick off matchday 10 in Ligue 1 at the Parc des Princes. The hosts find themselves top of Ligue 1, six points clear of Lens, Nice and their opponents Angers, who lie in 4th.
PSG will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat in Ligue 1, losing 2-0 away to Rennes last time out. Prior to that, PSG had won their first eight games this season, scoring at least twice on each occasion. PSG are the leagues top goalscorer’s, notching 22 times in those victories, with 12 of those goals coming in their four home games. Despite being without Neymar, Messi and the rest of their North/South American contingent, PSG still have top goalscorer Kylian Mbappe at their disposal, as well as Mauro Icardi, who scored a hat-trick in this fixture last season.
Angers coach Gérald Baticle will be absolutely delighted to see his side sitting on 16 points and in 4th position after nine rounds of games. His side got their first win in five matches as they came from behind twice to defeat lowly Metz. Angers have drew their last three away matches 1-1, will all three of those draws coming against sides in 16th position and below. Angers are winless in their last 14 fixtures against PSG, losing 13 of them. That includes heavy 5-0, 6-1 and 4-0 defeats on their last three visits to Paris.
Bet of the Day
Goals look on the menu as Hoffenheim face Köln on Friday evening with there being 45 goals scored in both sides combined 14 Bundesliga games this season. Both sides have netted in all seven of Köln’s fixtures this season, and with both sides possessing goalscorer’s such as Andrej Kramarić and Anthony Modeste, I’m backing both to score once more. PSG may me without key players such as Neymar and Lionel Messi, but still have a big and strong enough squad to dispose of an Angers side who they’ve dominated in recent years. Along with the win, add PSG to score at least twice, something they’ve achieved in all eight of their Ligue 1 victories this season.
