After a disappointing midweek, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Brazilian top flight once again, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs separated only by three places in the Brasileirão table meet at the Estádio Governador Magalhães Pinto in the early hours of Sunday morning as sixth-placed Cruzeiro play host to ninth-placed Atlético Mineiro in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Fernando Seabra’s hosts have scored 29 goals across their opening 20 matches in the Brasileirão this term, with a league-high 20 (69%) of them coming on home soil.
The Raposa have made the net bulge in each of their opening nine league contests in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in eight (89%) of them – and will look to add to their impressive goal-tally at home against an Atlético Mineiro backline that has recorded a solitary clean sheet across their previous 15 Brasileirão matches.
Ex-Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has seen his side score 28 goals across their opening 19 matches in the Brazilian Serie A this term, with 13 (46%) of those coming on their travels.
The Galo have only failed to score at home to Palmeiras (fourth) and away at Botafogo (first) across their previous 18 league outings – notching on multiple occasions in 10 (56%) of them – and will look to trouble a Cruzeiro defence that has recorded four clean sheets at home this campaign, with three (75%) of those coming against teams positioned in 13th and below.

Atlético Mineiro’s opening 19 fixtures in the Brazilian top flight are averaging 2.95 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 12 of their previous 17.
Those numbers creep up on their travels, with their opening nine road trips averaging 3.00 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals clicking in seven of their last eight – and given the same has landed in 6/9 (67%) of Cruzeiro’s home league contests this term – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes in Belo Horizonte on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
