Football Bet of the Day 23rd august

Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Italian Serie A, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Hellas Verona vs Milan

🇮🇹 Serie A

⏰ Friday 20 December, 19:45

Two clubs in Serie A who need points for different reasons meet at the Bentegodi on Friday night as relegation-threatened Hellas Verona entertain inconsistent Milan in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Paulo Zanetti’s hosts have scored 21 goals across their opening 16 Serie A encounters this term, with 11 (52%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Gialloblu have found the back of the net in 11 (69%) of their league outings, notching on multiple occasions in seven (44%) of them – including in 4/8 (50%) at home – and will look to trouble a Milan backline that’s registered a solitary shutout on their Serie A travels this term, shipping multiple goals in 5/7 (71%) of them.

Paulo Fonseca’s visitors have scored 24 goals across their opening 15 Serie A contests this campaign, with 11 (46%) of them coming on their travels.

The Rossoneri have found the back of the net in all bar one of their previous 26 Serie A encounters on the road – striking 2+ goals in 17 (65%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their impressive goal-tally away from home against a Hellas defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their past 13 Serie A clashes, and who have conceded a league-high 39 goals.

Bet of the Day

Hellas Verona’s opening 16 Serie A fixtures this campaign have averaged a league-high 3.75 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in a joint league-best 13 (81%) of them, whilst eight (50%) have produced four or more goals – including five of their most recent six.

Those numbers rise even further when playing at home, with their opening eight encounters at The Bentegodi averaging exactly four goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in all eight (100%), whilst each of the past three and four of the last six have delivered four or more goals.

Milan’s opening seven Serie A contests on the road have averaged 3.29 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in six (86%) of them, whilst two of their past six have produced four or more goals.

What’s more, Milan’s past 25 Serie A contests on the road have averaged an eye-catching 3.64 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in a remarkable 21 (84%) of them, whilst 14 (56%) of them have also broken the Over 3.5 Goals barrier – including a 1-3 success at this venue in March.

Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 2.75 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive a half-stakes winner, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.

  • Over 2.75 Asian Goal Line
  • Pays 49/50 (Bet365)
