Two clubs separated by only three points in the Scottish League One table meet at Links Park on Saturday afternoon as seventh-placed Montrose hosts ninth-placed Annan in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Stewart Petrie’s hosts have scored 30 goals across their opening 29 matches in League One this campaign, with 17 (57%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Gable Endies have found the back of the net in 10/14 (71%) of their league outings on home soil – notching on multiple occasions in six of their last 12 – and will look to breach an Annan defence that has recorded a solitary shutout on their travels this season, shipping a league-high 31 goals.
Willie Gibson’s visitors have also scored 30 goals across their opening 29 matches in the Scottish third tier this term, with 17 (57%) of them coming on their travels.
After failing to score in five of their opening seven away matches this season, The Galabankies have found the back of the net in seven of their next eight – scoring 13 goals in those eight encounters – and will be confident of troubling a Montrose backline that’s registered a solitary shutout across their previous 11 league contests on home soil, shipping 2+ goals in eight (73%) of them.

After seeing just three goals scored across their opening two league contests at Links Park this season, Montrose’s next 12 in front of their supporters have averaged three goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in nine (75%) of them, including in seven of their past eight.
Annan’s opening 15 league fixtures on the road this campaign have averaged an eye-catching 3.20 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in nine (60%) of them, including in three of their last four and six of their previous nine.
What’s more, the previous two meetings between the pair have yielded seven goals, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out on both occasions – including a 2-1 win for Montrose at this venue in November – and I’m hoping this trend continues in Angus on Saturday afternoon.
