Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me take my usual trip to the Dutch second tier, and there’s one match in particular that appeals to me for goals.

⚽️ PEC Zwolle vs VVV

🇳🇱 Eerste Divisie

⏰ Friday 20th January, 19:00

Two of the form teams in the Eerste Divisie meet at the MACPARK Stadion on Friday evening as second-placed PEC Zwolle host sixth-placed VVV.

PEC Zwolle secured their sixth consecutive league victory last Sunday as they impressively won 0-3 at Heracles to go level on points with the Almelo-based club at the top of the Eerste Divisie table. Dick Schreuder’s hosts have found the back of the net in 17/19 of their league outings this season, scoring on multiple in 13 of them. However, The Blauwvingers have registered just one clean sheet across their 10 league matches as hosts this season, shipping two or more goals in six of those.

VVV failed to grab their fourth successive league victory last time out, as they could only draw 1-1 at home to Helmond Sport, leaving them four points behind third-placed Eindhoven – albeit with a game in hand. Rick Kruys’s visitors are one of only three sides in the division to have found the back of the net in all of their away games this season, scoring 18 goals across their nine road trips. However, the Venlo-based club have recorded just four clean sheets this season, conceding on 27 occasions.

Bet of the Day

PEC Zwolle and VVV head into this fixture as two of the most in-form sides in the division, with the hosts on a six-match winning run, whilst the Venlo-based visitors have collected 14 points from the last 18 available. Given the pair have found the back of the net in 33/38 (87%) of their league fixtures this season, there’s a strong chance these two in-form sides will get on the scoresheet once more.

Collectively, Over 2.5 goals has landed in 25/38 (68%) of the pair’s Eerste Divisie fixtures this season and given both sides' records at either end of the pitch, I reckon we’ll see at least three strikes with both teams contributing.
