Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the Italian Serie A and the German Bundesliga and I’ve picked out a match in each league that I expect there to be plenty of goals in.

Lazio vs Sassuolo

🇮🇹  Serie A

⏰ Saturday 2nd April, 17:00

Lazio will look to bounce back from their derby defeat, as they host entertaining Sassuolo at the Olimpico. The hosts come into this in seventh, two points behind fifth-placed Atalanta, whilst the visitors are ninth, just six points behind their opponents.

As eluded to, Lazio come into this off the back of a 3-0 defeat against bitter-rivals Roma, with all three goals coming in the opening 45 minutes. After winning five of their opening six matches at the Olimpico this season, the Biancocelesti have won just three of their next eight (W3-D3-L2). Lazio have found the back of the net in 24/30 of their Serie A fixtures, failing to score just twice at home. Only current champions Inter have scored more goals in Serie A than Lazio, with Maurizio Sarri’s side finding the back of the net 58 times, with 33 of those coming at home. Lazio have kept just eight clean sheets in Serie A this season and have conceded 45 goals.

Sassuolo made it four wins from their last five last time out, as they swept away strugglers Spezia 4-1 at their Emilia-Romagna base. Alessio Dionisi’s have been in good form on their travels in recent months, losing just one of their last nine and winning at San Siro twice against both Milan clubs. Sassuolo have found the back of the net in 26/30 of their Serie A fixtures this season, failing to score just once on their travels. As well as scoring in 14/15 of their away matches, the Neroverdi have actually scored on multiple occasions in 11 of those, scoring a total of 32 goals. Sassuolo have registered just three clean sheets this season, with just one of those coming in their last 24 matches.

Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Saturday 2nd April, 17:30

Borussia Dortmund will look to keep their title hopes alive, as they host improving RB Leipzig at Signal Iduna Park. The hosts come into matchday 28 trailing leaders Bayern by six points, whilst the visitors are in fourth, above fifth-placed Freiburg only on goal difference.

Dortmund failed to make it nine wins from their last 11 in the Bundesliga last time out, as they could only draw 1-1 away to Köln, despite taking the lead. Marco Rose’s side have been strong at home this season, winning 11 of their 13 matches, only losing to both reigning champions Bayern Munich and third-placed Bayer Leverkusen. Dortmund have found the back of the net in all bar one of their 27 Bundesliga fixtures this season and are the second-highest scorers in the league with 67, with 40 of those coming at home. BVB have recorded just six clean sheets in the league so far this season, conceding 38 goals.

RB Leipzig drew for the second successive match at home last time out, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by fellow Europa League quarter-finalists Eintracht Frankfurt. Donenico Tedesco’s side have have won four of their last five on their Bundesliga travels, only losing 3-2 to Bayern Munich on that run. Leipzig have found the back of the net in 22/27 of their league tussles this season, scoring in 10 of their last 11 away from home. Die Roten Bullen have recorded seven clean sheets in the Bundesliga so far this term, with just two of those coming on their travels.

Bet of the Day

Sassuolo travel to the Italian capital in fine form, with the Neroverdi winning four of their last five matches and they take on a Lazio side who were thumped 3-0 by city-rivals Roma last time out. As well as losing just one of their last nine on their travels, Alessio Dionisi’s side have scored in all bar one their 15 away fixtures, scoring on multiple occasions in 11 of them and should net against this shaky Lazio defence. However, Sassuolo have kept just three clean sheets this season and given Lazio are the second-highest scorers in Serie A, it’s highly likely they’ll get on the scoresheet also.
Dortmund failed to cut the gap to leaders Bayern to four points following their 1-1 draw away to Köln last time out and The Black and Yellows can ill-afford to drop more points at home to a Leipzig side that’s only defeat in their last 10 in the Bundesliga was away to leaders Bayern. Marco Rose’s side have scored in 26/27 of their Bundesliga matches and should net against a Leipzig side with just two clean sheets away from home. The visitors have scored 17 goals in their last six away trips and I believe they will also get on the scoresheet against a Dortmund defence that’s conceded in 21/27 in the Bundesliga.
