After falling a Minnesota goal short in the early hours of Sunday morning, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Falkirk vs Hibernian
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Tuesday 23 September, 19:45
Hibs will look to bounce back from their cup exit over the weekend as they travel to the Falkirk Stadium to take on newly-promoted Falkirk tonight in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
John McGlynn’s hosts have fired in 20 goals across their opening nine Premiership and League Cup fixtures this campaign, with 10 (50%) coming across their four contests on home soil.
The Bairns have failed to score in just one of those nine matches – notching on multiple occasions in 3/4 (75%) of their home encounters – and will look to maintain their record of scoring in every Premiership outing against a Hibees backline that has kept just two clean sheets across their 12 matches in all competitions this season, shipping 20 goals.
David Gray’s visitors have scored 20 goals across their opening 12 contests in all competitions this campaign, with 10 (50%) coming on their travels.
The Hibees have only blanked away at Rangers in the cup on Saturday this season, striking 2+ goals in seven (58%) of them – including in 3/4 (75%) of their league outings – and will be confident of breaching a Bairns backline that has shipped 12 goals across their previous five matches.
Bet of the Day
Falkirk’s opening nine matches in all competitions this season have averaged an eye-catching 3.56 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in seven (78%) of them, including in all four (100%) of their encounters in front of their supporters (3-1, 4-0, 2-2 & 1-2).
Hibernian’s opening 12 matches in all competitions this season have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in seven (58%) of them, including in 3/4 (75%) of their Premiership contests (2-1, 2-2, 1-1 & 3-3).
Given that both sides like to play attacking football and are far stronger going forward than they are defensively, I expect to see a high-scoring encounter at the Falkirk Stadium this evening.
- Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 4/5 (Bet365/Betfred)
