Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day also see’s me delve into the MLS card and there’s a match in the early hours of Sunday morning I like the look of for goals.
CF Montréal vs Austin
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Sunday 19th June, 00:30
Two sides who are currently positioned in fourth position in their respective Conference’s meet at the Saputo Stadium in what should be a highly entertaining match.
After losing back-to-back matches 2-1 away to Nashville and then at home to Real Salt Lake, Montréal came out on top in a seven-goal thriller last time out, defeating Cincinnati 4-3 on a night which brought up my Bet of the Day. That win last time out now means Wilfred Nancy’s side have been victorious in four of their last five matches in front of their own supporters. After failing to score in their season opener away to Orlando, Montréal have gone on to score in each of their next 13 MLS matches, scoring 28 times, with only LAFC (29) scoring more in the whole of the MLS. The Impact have registered just a solitary clean sheet and have the fourth-worst defence in MLS, conceding 26 goals in their 14 matches.
Austin saw their two-match unbeaten run come to an end last time out, as they were beaten 4-1 away to the LA Galaxy despite taking the lead at the start of the second half. That was only Austin’s second defeat in their last six matches away from home, with Josh Wolff’s side having won three matches in that spell (W3-D1-L2). Austin have only failed to find the back of the net in just two of their opening 14 MLS matches this season and like their opponents Montréal, have scored 28 goals in the league this season. Austin have registered three clean sheets this season but none of them have come away from home, with the Texan side having conceded 13 goals in their seven road trips.
Bet of the Day
Only Western Conference leaders LAFC (29) have scored more goals in the entire MLS so far this season that these two and I’m expecting a high-scoring affair when the pair go head-to-head at the Saputo Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning. Montréal and Austin have found the back of the net in 25/28 of their combined MLS matches this season, with both having scored 28 times each and given that Wilfred Nancy’s hosts have recorded just one clean sheet this season and that Josh Wolff’s visitors are yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels, I’m expecting at least three strikes with both sides contributing in what should be an end-to-end encounter in Canada.
